Besides others that have raised rabbits has anyone heard an actual rabbit distress call?

Best description I ever heard. Was just curious as I would think very few people have heard an actual rabbit. If you raised rabbit you heard it a LOT, if not, can't think of any other time.

One of the first times I went bow hunting, I must have been 17 or so, I was walking out to the deer stand in the dark. I'm passing alongside this fence row and all the sudden something jumps out and thrashes around. Scared the living crap out of me. I finally figure out that it is a big jack rabbit in a trap. I figure I'll put it out of it's misery and put an arrow in it. I had never heard one scream before, scared the living crap out of me for the second time that morning.

When my wife heard your video she thought it sounded like our paper shredder just before we had to replace it

I picked up a blow-caller and tried my luck at calling them yesterday. No luck. No signs of them up there either.

Did spook up a deer from a bedding area. If I thought my bow was remotely sighted in (I haven't shot it in 5 years), I'd go get an archery tag and go back. There's 3 beds we found and two of them looked very recent in the 18" deep snow.

Re: YOTE HUNT????? VETRAP CHEAP

Postby LarryFlew on Wed Dec 30, 2009 10:09 am

In case anyone has a need I found an online place for cheap vetrap. 4 rolls of white 4 inch for $8.60 total with free shipping. smartpack.com for me it was cheaper than a LONG drive to a fleet farm.

Went out for awhile this morning and tried 6 different spots. Had a red fox come all the way in on one set and was busted by a coyote at about 400yds he was in over drive headed the other way when I finally spotted him.
I managed a couple last year and one so far this year. This is all new to me so figureing it out on my own is Sloooow going. Maybe part of it is my closeout Walmart Johny Stewart electronic call from a few years ago $10 :?
