White bunny boots

Postby Rem700 on Wed May 12, 2010 12:12 pm

Yes I know its only May but I am looking forward to next coyote season.
Is there any place local that handles the white ones?
Are these any more uncomfortable for walking vs standard pac Sorel/Iceman type boot?

Without starting another thread any ideas for locateing either a 3 or 6 color desert M65 field coat for a base for a ghillie?

Check out http://www.ccmilitary.com in Brooklyn Park. They have both black and white boots, along with assorted other military items.

Sportsman's Guide sometimes has them, just make sure they are the real item and not the Guide Gear knockoff.

I take them winter camping. They are probably stiffer, heavier, and less comfortable than the new insulated boots. On the other hand if you go over your boot tops in water you know that your feet will stay warm. Or if you are going to be out camping for an extended period of time your perspiration will not build up in the insulation.

Fleet farm has them too, only black ones as far as I've seen but they have white spray paint too.

I dont think the white spray paint will add as much additional insulation as the actual white boot vs black.

having worn both extensively....

In MN I haven't noticed any difference in keeping my feet warm. Both work for me in any temp I have been in. The black hide the dirt better, the white really show the blood.

Not really worried about either dirt or blood they should both wash off.

Figured warmer is better ( I get cold easy) and the white should blend in better in the snow.

For the price, bunny boots are the way to go. I gave up Sorels or or "pac-boot" style footwear for extended cold weather use decades ago ... the BB's kept my feet waaaay warmer, especially for long periods of non-movement. Sure, you can find comparable Sorels, but at 3x - 4x the price.

According to military use cards that usually come with the boots, the black boots are for use in "cold/wet" conditions, the white for "cold/dry". Other than that, I can't tell a difference insulation-wise ... either work just as well in any cold climate. Oh, and they are just as comfy for walking as any Sorel.

Thanks for the offer Sam but I have to say nay.

You wouldn't need snowshoes -

You could walk on water -

Those are the comments I always get because 13 is the size I wear, I normally wear size 12, 13 leaves room for a couple socks.

Wear about a 7 1/2 and buy 8s for the extra socks but a 13 I dont think I own that many socks.
Dang never thought of the snowshoe idea probably about the same size as pair of Bearpaw snowshoes.
Guess in that usage I could refer to them as snowshoe hare boots instead of bunny boots.
