Where's the fun in that? :D

If the mrs allows me to attempt corn (she seems hell bent against it for some reason - keeps saying how she doesn't know when to pick it and it ends up rotten anyway blah blah blah), then I'll want 24/7 distraction/dismemberment, but for now I want a little hunting simulation and mainly to keep the coons I find under control (we only have a couple a year right now). And if I can take a rabbit or two in defense of the garden, I'm all for eating them. They end up under peoples tires otherwise.

Getting the range designation will also be nice. I can do a lot of target practice if I don't have to leave the yard. Getting kiddo shooting is also a priority for me. I know he'll enjoy it, but I also want him having the skills for down the road. 70 years ago, he would've already been responsible for hunting dinner at his age.

Back when I was a teen, we had a raccon screaming in a hoolowed out hole in a tree about 25 feet up. By brother and his bud were on the ground with 22's, and I climbed a neighboring tree with the pellet gun. The dang thing stuck it's head out, I shot it right in it's face, and it scrambled out onto a branch where the other guys droped it with the 22's.....

Upon inspection, I shot it right in the bridge of its nose, where the pellet skidded off its nose and into it's eye.....

Pretty thick skulls on these things....

I also ran over a herd of them once with my truck.....turned a round, went back to look.....didn't kill a one of them.....thick skulls!
Never mind the typos. My keyboard is full of beer, crumbs and Dr. Peper........and .........the typo and grammer police can go to........HE..!.....no...wait a minute......California!

Co2 powered air rifle from the looks of it.

I wonder what a slug of delrin would do at the pressure used to launch a paintball 300fps? I've got a paintball gun I have no intentions of ever using for the sport and can't sell for what it's worth to me. Maybe a sabot round? Hmmmm

Air rifle: http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/show. ... r=AirForce (PyramidAir is to airguns as MidwayUSA is to guns)

Paintball gun valves are usually not even close to optimized for speed since they are limited to ~300fps in formal events. You could probably increase that speed a lot, in the case of co2 by increasing valve volume, flow rate, open rate, and open time.

The gun I've got is somewhat collectible due to it being an early generation of the electronic controls (brass eagle rainmaker), so I don't want to modify it too much. But, making a co2 canon sounds like it could be fun.

Yeah its a compressed air rifle. It comes with a little bike pump that you screw the cylinder on and pump it up yourself. .22 caliber, nothing stands a chance :P

Forget guns. We just adopted a new dog. In less than 2 days, she found and eliminated the next generation. Mom and dad have since secured alternate accomodations.

Very true. :D But, neither do they greet you at the door after a long day at work and damn near pee themselves because they're so happy to see you. 8-)

I broke down and bought a haveaheart trap when it was on sale over the weekend.

It's currently loaded with sliced apple, but still empty after 12hrs.

97B.655 TAKING ANIMALS CAUSING DAMAGE.
Subdivision 1.Owners and occupants may take certain animals.A person may take mink, squirrel, rabbit, hare, raccoon, bobcat, fox, opossum, muskrat, or beaver on land owned or occupied by the person where the animal is causing damage. The person may take the animal without a license and in any manner except by poison, or artificial lights in the closed season. Raccoons may be taken under this subdivision with artificial lights during open season. A person that kills mink, raccoon, bobcat, fox, opossum, muskrat, or beaver under this subdivision must notify a conservation officer or employee of the Wildlife Division within 24 hours after the animal is killed.

So yeah, it's legal.

What about skunks? Just shot one tonight from my deck with my .223, then saw him move in the tall grass and drove the Polaris Ranger to within 10 yds and got him with my shotgun three times. Didn't want him to stink or spray. It worked.
