I am going with some hunting buddies hunt hogs in Texas next February. If someone wanted to put together a forum hunt, I could go twice. :D

I'd be up for it. Name the date, I'm so there!

I want to add that in my experience with Boar hunting at ranches setup for it, You are better off with less people. There are quite a few blinds setup at these ranches, but not all the blinds will have Hogs coming into them consistently.
As an example, I went once with a group of 8 guy's. The first two nights only three blinds produced Hogs. We switched blinds around so everyone had opportunities, But it's best to go with four or five people IMHO.
Some Ranches are huge and can accommodate more hunters with good success, But there is no guarantee. After all, thats why it's called hunting.
You can expect to pay anywhere from 150.00 to 3000.00 a day for your hunt. Normally these prices include food and lodging.

Anything over about 800 for the trip and I'm out. I'm not paying to take care of someones pig problem.

It's funny how you hear there is such a huge problem with the Feral Hog population. But when you want to help eradicate them, Nobody wants you there unless you pay? WTF?
It really pisses me off that you have to pay to do this, But I have to admit, It's a ton of fun! and you get some meat out of it.

If I end up canned for my back problems, I might end up on the road killing pigs for hire... ;)

I would agree 100% Now find that and let me know how it works for ya. People are all about making a buck, and if they have Hogs they see $$$$. If I spend all the time and money to travel south and hunt, I want to be sure I have access to quality land and game.

I agree that its pretty hard to find good hunting for free anymore.

I sure don't allow it on my land.

In Texas, they have had a long tradition of strong landowner rights, and hunting leases. While if you are a local, you might find some folks who will let you hunt for free its few and far between. To some extent, as explained to me, the landowners look at it, if you have a hunting lease you won't do anything that jeopardizes your lease. You don't see the shot up fences, bullet holes in shacks, and the great spotted deer trophies one occasionally sees around here.

If you want to be a professional hog control hunter, you need to have a track record, a bunch of equipment (like a helicopter and a supressed M16), and a bond, per a friend of mine.

I might be in for the hunt if we have someone who knows a good spot down there.

I got a radio control helo, and Deaner is the bond man.

I'm also not getting into hog control, it's a joke. My wife doesn't see me enough as it is.
