Well I'd actually have to fire my gun for it to be a problem. :?

I always did for deer (or using a rifle for any reason), But didn't for shotgun because I couldn't hear the pheasants get up. Now with this new tech (electronic muffs, etc), i'll be wearing them all the time...

I've tried them a few times, and while I agree its a good idea, and if I am doing something that is going to have repeated shooting, I usually put in some amplified plugs, my biggest problem is that my hearing is so screwed up that when I use the amplification I loose all direction sense. I've tried them with duck hunting and hearing the birds fly over on the wrong side caused all kinds of missed opportunities, worse than not hearing them at all.

If you have normal or near normal (ie correctable) hearing, don't go without something.

I know what kind of issues I will have by not using them, but with me I guess I just put up with the risk so that I am not looking to the right when the big bear is stomping through on the left.

I have a set of nice amplified hearing protection but when you are in a stand you hear every movement or breathe you make. If I have time I put them on before I take the shot otherwise I just shoot...it's only one shot.

Ordered a pair of Walker's Digital inside the ear. Thought the $600 was a bit pricey, but then again, hearing aids ( and thats what these are) don't come cheap.

But these were; cheap, that is.

First pair didn't work, right out of the box. Sent them back and waited. And waited. After repeated conversations which included my mentions of CC fraud and Postal Inspectors, a second pair arrived.

This time one of them actually worked. The other one, however, fell apart in my hands. Back they went.

Now I'm going to try a pair of Pro Ears Predators.

They can't be any worse, right?

Never while hunting ... but always while target shooting/plinking.

I need to reconsider this. A good set of ear plugs could make that afternoon deer stand nap a bit more enjoyable.

I've never even thought about it. Been hunting for 50 years and still hear just fine.

I have found that by wearing them during the afternoon nap, that I'm now waking up hearing and seeing the deer ass as it is disappearing in to the woods after walking by vs never hearing or seeing them during the nap. Huge improvement.
