Don't cry to me when you get your gun taken away for breaking the rules.
I won't get my gun taken away. I don't bait. Nor does anyone I hunt with. We all grew up in the area that we hunt, and many of the party still lives up there, so we have ample opportunity before the season to scout the area, find where the deer are moving, and set up our stands accordingly.
ETA: Norsesmithy hit my point right on the head. As long as you don't hunt the area until the 11th day after the bait is gone, it doesn't matter when you remove the bait. If your season is long enough, you can wait until opening day to remove the bait.
