Taxidermist for deer feet?

Postby 45Badger on Sat Feb 16, 2013 9:47 pm

Oh, hoofs 8-) Sawed the legs off, tossed them in the freezer. promptly forgot until my wife started screaming about the foinknkpgving deer legs in the freezer. I want to make a coat (or gun, or whatever) rack out of these. Any recommendations on local (SW burbs) taxidermist?

From Chevydude. Easy to do yourself. Did my first set in 1974. All you need to do is soak the feet (hooves -legs) in a 5-gallon bucket, with a mixture of water and 20 Muleteem Borax Laundry Soap. Do not soak for more than a few days. We (My brothers) bend into position and tie them with wire. Then into the bucket. About 4 Gallons of water and 3/4 cup of Borax. Stir it up good. My first pair are still perfect. After soak they have to Dry. After dry cut to length drill the bone for a screw and mount to plaque. Nice easy craft project. Good Luck.

Taxidermist for deer feet?

We did this at school way back ( Valley Middle) I remember my teacher shot in with something so they wouldn't stink. I made gun rack like 40 yrs ago, my mom still has it! I use the taxidermist in St. Peter he on right of 169 before you get to town.
