Did you eat it?

Nope. I was about 14. Just kinda being a dumb kid. Was deer hunting. Skinned him and kept his skull. Thought it was cool. My mom threw it away. Should I have? I don't recall most coyote hunters eating those.

This is what I believe: hunt and kill whatever you want--but only if you're going to eat it (and it's legal).

Killing for sport is obscene.

Well it was a 100% legal. Sorry for killing a fox ten years ago.

you should start an organization to stop prairie dog genocide :D

I have a very hard time believing that you have eaten EVERY SINGLE animal that you have killed. But I may be wrong.

You aren't. The only thing I shoot is paper, so I haven't killed anything. I'm content to get what I want to eat from Rainbow.

You're free to sport-kill whatever you want, just don't expect me to slap you on the back for it.

Don't know you. How would I expect a pat on the back? If you have a problem, you are better off contacting the DNR about the current seasons on fox than complaining on MNGT.

Reminds me of a story my friend from Iowa told me last summer. He was out plinking with a new pellet rifle and decided to see if he could hit a sparrow out in his yard. He hit it and instantly felt bad about it, so he scooped it up, plucked it and cooked it up. He said it tasted fine, just not a whole lot of meat!

As for me, I always eat my paper after I shoot it. Paper killer code and all. :P

It's just another typical Holier than Thou response on MNGT. Seeing for me trapping is despicable. It is one thing to put an arrow through a foxs lungs and drop it, it's another to hold one in a trap by its paw for an extended period of time and then shoot it in the head with a pistol at point blank range. But hey thats just me. Mind you this is also 100% legal.

No, not that at all. I leave the Holier-than-thou stuff to the 1911 folks.

I see you're quite young, you might want to think about things a bit before you respond to them.

how is what I said wrong? It is my opinion about trapping. Don't like it. And how is shooting a fox legally any different than any of the guys posting wolf hunt pictures? This is a legitimate response. Think about it...

We have a Red Fox living right here by my house in Edina, just off 70th & France Ave . He is very skrawny but seems to deplete the local rabbit population a bit. I usually see him if I outside in the wee hours of the morning. He appears to be totally nocturnal. I leave him alone, because I miss living out in the country side (my home in Griffin, GA) where I would see all sorts of wildlife, from Chipmunks Up to Large Whitetail Deer and huge Canada Geese during the winter. Living right in the city, makes everything convenient, especially since I'm disabled, but I miss living in the rural areas where I could quietly sit on my deck, and watch multitudes of species, move freely about. It beat Animal Planet hands down :D

I enjoy the fact that "nature" is moving back into the city. I live not to far from Minnehaha Falls Park and the river. Since I have moved to the Cities I have seen more racoons and possums then I ever did growing up in the mid-west of the state. I saw a deer last night at the park, just behind the 55 wall and I have had a coyote run in front of my car by the ford park way bridge. I often see a I see young turkey in my neighborhood when I walk the dog, people are always getting super close to the thing. I don't think people know that a turkey can cause some damage if it gets ticked off.

I totally agree with big dog!

My mom lives down in Edina on Lake of Edina and always sends me pictures of all the wildlife back there. There's been great herons, snowy owls, raccoons, possums, as well as all the waterfowl on the lake. Canadian geese, loons, and plenty of ducks. She had a mother duck lay eggs on the side of her garage! A red fox and her litter was nesting under my grandma's gazebo three houses down last summer, too! There was quite an outrage last summer about coyotes killing little dogs down there too.

I used to work at the Lexus Dealership of HWY 61 in Maplewood and we would see one all the time harassing the honkers. I think he would raid their nests or something. Smoked one with my bow and have seen a couple around my parents in North St Paul. Saw another one by Cedar Lake in Minneapolis when we were taking our canoe out late after musky fishing.

Tons of reds around but Grey's are on watch list for endangered. Rare to see a couple greys in a lifetime of being in the woods compared to seeing a lot of reds.
