Got some glass on my Armalite finally...

Nikon P-223 3-9x40 scope with P-series mount.

I ended up buying a Howa M1500 in .308 instead of the AR-10. Figured it would freak people out less at the range when they ask what's the purpose of the rifle...

Will have to do some shooting this summer, and see how they perform.

I intend to hunt this year with an AR. I have yet to shoot one with a .223 so I figure I will attempt a few hunts with it. Sure is pleasant to carry and I have a fair bit of experience already. I intend to use a 20" 1 in 7" barrel with 62gr. federal fusions. I think this set up should do fairly well at it. Especially in the closer range brush that I like to tromp through.

Just got two hogs with my DPMS AP-4 .308. Barnes TTSX 168 grain solid copper. Second hog was right behind the first in almost the exact same position. Bullet went thru the sow, thru the boar and kept on going. Image. They were both down within 15 yards.

Nice shooting!

I will be using AR15 in 6.8 SPC this fall for deer.

When I retire and move back to Bemidji (2016), I'll be using my 6.5 Grendel for deer season....or....Mrs. O. will want it and I'll have to find something else (like one of my .308s). With Nosler 120 gr bullets, it delivers over 1000 ft lbs of energy @ 300 yards.

Funny that you posted your 6.5 Grendel AR15 in my hunting thread. I know you seen my new AR15 I recently got in 6.5 Grendel...

Got this scope coming for it Monday...

Weaver Kaspa 4-16x44SF scope.

Just need to get some reliable magazines for the gun. The C Product mags I got aren't the best. I've heard the ASC magazines seem to be the best currently. Plan on using Hornady 123 grain ammo as the main ammo I put though the gun. Get my dope with it, and go from there.

PHATSPEED7x,
How do you like that stock? Who makes it? While it works ok, I'm not too crazy about the generic M4 type stock on mine. I like that mine is adjustable but it isn't the most comfortable for long range shooting, in my opinion.

That's a Magpul MOE rifle stock. MSRP is $70 : https://store.magpul.com/product/MAG404/60

No. Cooper .270 for elk, deer and antelope. And yuppiejr, put a tinfoil on that kid, please.

Like stated in the post below yours it's the Magpul MOE rifle stock that replaces the A2 rifle style of stock. I personally love it! It's about an inch shorter in pull that the A2 stock, and it feel great. I got mine from CTD for around $65 plus shipping. With a "hunting" style AR-15 I prefer the solid platform of a fixed stock. Just my .02

JJ, I'm glad the Cooper has your seal of approval. It is a nice rifle. You should invest in one.

Well I have no shortage of rifles I could use to deer hunt this fall. Just picked a Benelli R1 in .30-06 tonight...

This one doesn't look all scary.
