Deer parasites

A thankfully not illustrated article on the various vermin deer can carry: http://patriotoutdoornews.com/11885/10- ... nside-deer

I've never hunted deer, so for those of you who have could you answer a few questions please.
1. Are most deer this parasite-laden?
2. Is there a threshold where you decide the deer is too nasty to eat?
3. If not, what do you do?
3a. Do you try to clean the meat as much as possible when you dress it; or
3b. Do you {URK!} just eat worm-riddled meat?

Despite the article's assurance that most of these critters don't use humans as hosts, I for one would be extremely reluctant to swallow visibly contaminated meat unless it was thoroughly sterilized. Cooked into charcoal might do it. Or bleach. Or gamma radiation.

I've never encountered any of those parasites. Remember that many of those parasites are natures direct response to wildlife overpopulation. If we don't hunt, the population can boom, exceeding carrying capacity. when this happens nature kicks in, and begins killing off the excessive population via disease.

Usually just put them in a pot and then saute them in garlic butter for a tasty treat.

Never seen them before but I did kill an already bullet riddled deer once to put it out of it's misery, was dragging a leg and once I put him down he was so gangreen you didn't want anything to do with it.

Most of those parasites live in the entrails and body parts that the majority of hunters throw away or don't eat.

You do realize that we would have the same discussion if we were talking about eating you right?
