When I worked at North, one of the most common serious accidents after MVCs was falling out of a tree-stand usually while climbing up or down.

It isn't hard to put a sliding prusik knot on a rope and slide it up as you climb. It is easy to put a rope onto the tree(s) you've made "permanent" stand in, as well as sliding one up around the tree above you when using a climbing stand (that's what I do with my Summit Viper).
