I don't think you are all that cynical, moreso realistic. I think if you check around you will find many studies on the toxicity of copper. And these studies will get wrongly used to go after copper if they are ever successful in banning lead. The other issue that they will try to use if they can ban lead is that copper is a critical resource that we need for electronics, etc that can't be wasted on bullets where it won't be recycled.

Have never seen copper round ball for use in muzzle loaders.

And the DNR is now starting new programs to harvest MORE deer because of crop damage.

Less hunters equals Less deer harvested.

Soon we will have DNR poisoning deer to reduce the herds, similar to the Dakotas poisoning the prairie dog due to lack of hunters mainly due to shooting fees required in most infested areas. The poison WILL get into the food system eventually.

Less hunters because of increased costs of sport - current situation of ammo is not helping either.
