From 2015 regulations, lights could be used...

A person hunting for coyote or fox from January 1 to March 15 may use an
artificial handheld light if they meet ALL of the following conditions—you are:
• on foot and not within a public right-of-way,
• using a shotgun,
• using a calling device, and
• more than 200 feet from a vehicle.

The no votes haven't exactly explained anything. I think it's legal but wanted to get other opinions.

Then maybe you should get an opinion from the DNR, along with a letter saying that it is legal to cover you butt.

If you have your carry gun on you, being in possession where coyotes can be taken is enough to make it illegal.

Or are you going to lock all your self defense in the trunk so you can look through a FLIR scope, then go get them and shoot at eyes? (Tony's favorite answer to using anything but a shotgun is we'll shoot at eyes)

So you can use this in liberated states, or gun ranges which have conditional use permits prohibiting shooting after dark. Doesn't do ya much good here.

Tony also thinks shotguns magically stop being lethal at 100yds, so that's why it's ok to use them with flashlights. Don't take my word on it though, ask him. He's the one who's going to never let us have lasers or lights and use rifles. He's made that very clear in several discussions on fb.

Would not carry anything while out, that would be illegal. Just use the mini DVR on the stock to record animals.

Thermal works during the daytime, no need to go to a range in the dark. Just have to tape a hand warmer to the target. I bought a bulk box of them.

And you can't even legally possess it outdoors with a legal weapon here (unloaded or otherwise).

Last I checked, this was MN Gun Talk, not your parents farm out of state gun talk. And yet in your thread's title you call it your MN hunting rig. Hunting to most of us involves bullets or arrows = two things expressly forbidden by MN law while in the possession of a NV or Thermal imager of any kind.

First reply to this thread asked if I was planning to use it in a free state, as previously mentioned I am and the rifle is almost finished for that. If we only talk about Minnesota I guess we shouldn't ever discuss prairie dogs, elk or boars.

However, I went hunting for deer this year and didn't pull the trigger, even had a buck within 7 yards. Was I not hunting since nothing was killed?

I'll see if I can locate some animals soon and put up some video.
