Took a doe last night to fill my bonus tag. Got lucky as first shot hit a tree several inches from the deer. It was confused and froze in place. A second shot missed so I guessed the scope was off and made a quick mental adjustment put the slug through the back and vitals.

I don't know what happened as the gun had been shooting inside 3" at 100 yards and I was maybe a quarter that distance. I'll have to hit the range and see what is going on. Luckily, I don't have to use a slug gun the rest of the season.

Thank you guys. Shooting was no problem but working the thumb safety without a ligament attaching my thumb was a bit of a challenge.

Could they modify the safety in someway?

You could do as a one time hunting partner did- left the safety off and relied on muzzle control. :)

As I said, he was a one time hunting partner with the association ending the moment I learned of his habit. I am not advocating the practice, just having fun. I actually think you should get a Krieghoff double rifle- the cocking lever/safety is tall enough to make a 59 Chevy jealous. One could easily use the web of their hand to set the triggers. :)

In the same vein as OldmanFCSA's earlier post, the township tax assessor stopped at the cabin in to do the 5 year assessment. I hope it isn't another 5 years before she swings by! She noticed deer hair in the sled and asked how the hunting was going. She added she took a spike buck opening weekend. If only I was single and 20 years younger.

Being rich and good looking would help too.

Surely your charm and wit would be sufficiently intoxicating enough to woo the young lady?

My charm and wit might have worked but I was too gobsmacked by her to put them to use. I have been around that area for over 15 years and never heard mention of that gal and I mingle with the locals pretty regularly. I can't even say that I have seen "Citiots" that cute up there...

You dug up a thread that had not been active for two years just to say that you aren't interested in the topic of that thread? Does that make sense to you?

For the hours and hours I'm on the internet, I keep thinking to myself how much I hate the internet.......
