This just jogged my memory to some load data I found. Hodgdon has a couple sub-sonic loadings on there webpage using Clays and Titegroup powder and a 55 gr bullet. I have been wanting to try then to see how quiet they are.

Blow it up with tannerite after it's been removed. ;)

we've had a gopher problem for a few years ... I've trapped 2 - 3 ... done ok, since then ... but they finally started building on the lot next door ... ya could see the mounds go up across the lot ... makin' his way to our yard

... last nite, there was a fresh mound far 'nuff into our yard for me to set a trap ... 'er so I thought ... couldn't find a tunnel ... so I gave up

later on, I saw our retarded dog ... frozen with her nose down ... and fresh dirt strewn across the grass ... then she whipped her head up ... friggin' gopher in her mouth ... then it'd fly into the air ... she was playin' with it ... I ran out with a shovel ... gave the dog a beggin' strip! Image

... first thing she ever did right! ... sort of! :|

... she also "points" deer! ... I don't 'spose I could ... nah! ... nevermind! :?

He wants them dead. Traps are like centurions who never look away from their target. Hunt all you want, but when you leave your post, that's time for the critter to rule.

Hellz no. I haven't considered letting that one go.

Yet. :?

And Pat, I'd let you use the trapdoor..... but you might want to use something you can aim. :P

I think that a baited jar of tannerite would be fun. Wait for woodchuck to position him/herself over jar to eat bait.... hit jar with .30-06, turn woodchuck inside out into pulpy bloody mess.

Post video on youtube with keywords like "PETA" and "Animal rights" and "Kittens"

Hilarity ensues.

The twistedness of your mind never ceases to amaze.... I like it.

Kinda of gives a new meaning to greasy grimey gopher woodchuck guts. :)

Photos of the carnage would violate common decency. Needless to say, a .44 to an apple sized noggin creates an impression.

Lawn chair, 6 pack of root beer, cooler, industrial strength OFF, scoped Ruger 77/44 and cut up apples.

The "hunt" took all of 30 minutes. I put the cut up apples about 6ft upwind of one of his exit holes....then setup my lawn chair about 75 ft on the other side. Aftre locking the screen porch doors, and instructing no one to come out...I hunkered down....didn't even make it through a root beer before he showed up. Skittered away back to his hole when I tried to bring the gun up to the shoulder...so I just propped it up on my arm and left the crosshairs on the apples. About 5 minutes later he re-emerged...started eeating one of the apples, and blammo....we didn't have to worry about him crawling back into the hole and dying under the porch. :D

I then proceeded to drink the remainder of the root beer plus a few more.

That would be good, we could get the anti-gunner and the tree huggers pissed off equally at the same time.

Would have been better to have the camera slowly pan back from the carnage, and show a 9 year old boy as the trigger man, taking a huge pull off of a bottle of Jack Daniels. (obviously you would want to replace the whiskey with Iced tea or the like....)

That would have kicked the hornet's nest pretty hard.
