Opening is this Saturday -- we've seen a couple really nice does around and a couple bucks being stupid this time of year!! Hoping they are in our freezer by the end of the day on Saturday. If not, well, there will be Sunday and more days to follow.
Last year I did not get a deer at all. Saw a very small one -- would have been tasty and legal, but figured I'd let her grow up another year. Saw her on the next to last day of hunting season last year. We saw other does after I got the gun, but they were really far out there -- 300+ yards -- and I am not that confident in my shot placement with anything over 200 yards, so didn't even try.
Took the rifle out 2 months ago and made sure it was sighted in. Had 2" group at 100 yards. The wind was blowing pretty good and rain was moving in so we packed up and headed out before we got wet. Most of the deer I will shoot at will be 50-100 yards out, so I am very confident I will drop whatever comes my way this hunting season...it just seems to be taking forever to get here...
116 hrs, 31 mins til opening -- but who's counting.
Well now opening is 62 hours, 11 mins away...I'm still not counting though!!
