Not yet. I'm heading to SoDak this weekend for their opener.

I can't wait!

After the steel shoot on Saturday my dad and I headed out to the nearest public land. In 3 hours we saw, I think, 12 birds (don't remember how many were roosters) and had good shots at 3 of them. I only got one though

The boy and I went down to my sister's farm today. Hunted with my Nephew and managed to bring home 2 birds. Not a great outing but better than some years we've had.

Picked up a couple birds this past weekend.

New dog with no experience, but he is learning, such as when you pick up a wounded rooster by its head it will beat the crap out of your face with its wings.

Sure miss my old dog.

You missed the point, I was trying to demonstrate to the new dog as to how not pick up a wounded pheasant. ;)

How did you get the taste of feathers out of your mouth?

I haven't been yet, the corn is now down and my hunting partner, farmer buddy, now has some time to go. This week some time.

I did well in SoDak even though they had "a lot" of corn still in. The birds held very well which was excellent for my GSP. She's 3 years old now and really has things figured out. A big plus is that she doesn't creep at all.

I only wish that I had more time to get out. Hopefully December will be good.

I'll be heading out to SoDak this Saturday to hunt with my 76 year old dad, my brothers, his boy, and some relatives who live out there. I can't wait!! We'll fit in a little prairie dog shooting as well.

Well, it wasn't exactly the pheasant opener, but... Three of us went to the southwestern part of the state and had a great time. We shot our limit Saturday, got four more Sunday before leaving for home and saw plenty more. :)

I know one thing for sure, there is nothing like hunting with a good dog. We would have walked past probably all but two birds. You just can't see them when they are buried in and they were really sitting tight Saturday.
