First Deer Ever!

Postby Stradawhovious on Sat Nov 05, 2011 9:52 pm

Well, for me anyways. Went deer hunting for the first time today.

I'd like to say its some fairytale 200yd shot with iron sights, the deer in a dead run, one shot kill.....

But I can't.

Well, I can meet you half way....... It WAS iron sights, and it WAS a very clean one shot kill, but it was at less than 50 yards, and she wasn't moving very fast.

At any rate, I shot her with a 120 year old Springfield 1884 in .45-70 govt.

Good experience, very exciting.

I hope to repeat it tomorrow.

Also, thanks to Holland&holland for the use of the stand, land, and gutting tutorials. Very very much appreciated

Congrats strad. Lets see some pics.
Wrap that around your overly muscled left wing and row your dinghy in counterclockwise circles as a result.

Here is a pic of the Doe........ ******* cellphone pic is all I got. It was one of those "lets get this gutted and get back in the stand" kind of moments with lots of hunting left since it was the middle of the day. By the time we got her out of the woods it was dark, and I was too tired and hungry to set up for a photo op.

As far as the rifle, I will get one posted eventually. I think I have a pic somewhere.
