Hunting boots slip on hard

Postby cobb on Sun Mar 23, 2008 6:24 pm

I have a pair of LaCrosse boots, the non insulated camo rubber style that are about knee high and have a adjustment strap at the top. When I get them on, they fit fine to loose, to the point of a pair of heavy socks are nice to wear to keep the foot from slipping around in them. This is the time of year that I use them most, they're not heavy or hot, keeps the feet and lower legs dry when working with the dog in the wet grassy areas.

The problem I have is that they are tapered in the ankle area, so it is very hard to get my foot/heel to slip past this area. I don't want to wreck them, so has anyone used a boot powder or know of something that can be used or applied in that area to make them slip on easier?

Try a little corn starch.

It is what is used often in surgical gloves.

I have some that are similar but made in Canada (Monarch ?), as well as Maine Hunting boots. Both have or had similar problem. I took a pair of cotton socks and sprayed the heel area with Rem-DriLube™ Dry Aerosol Spray Lubricant (Teflon base) and put my foot in and out a few times. I redo them as necessary, which is usually once every two years or so.....................$.02 YMMV

Trislide

It isn't for kinky threesomes, it's used by triathletes to lube up their legs and arms to get in and out of their wetsuits easily. It doesn't hurt rubber or neoprene, and you just spray it on.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Ordered online or is there a local source?

And I am assuming that I can spray it into the boots instead of on my hunting socks????

Or, depending on your location, GearWest bike/triathlon store in Long Lake MN has it.

And yeah, you can spray it into the boots.

Corn starch is a sugar. You don't want to get that all mixed up with your foot bacteria.
