What'd you take deer hunting this year?

What do you all hunt with? Ive been hunting with my S&W 460. Took my first deer with a pistol this year at about 50yds.
It is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it.

A couple of oldies- a Remington Model 8 in 32 Rem, a Savage 1920 in 300 Savage and a couple of newer one- a Remington 700 in 300 Savage and a Savage 16 in 7mm/08 depending on the stand I use. I also hunt in the slug zone and will be using either a 20 ga Remington 870 or a 12 ga Beretta 391.

The older guns are open sighted so they get used when on a stand with limited visibility. The 700 is used where I could see out to 200 yards but odds are the shots will be much closer. The 16 is stainless/synthetic and gets dragged out when it is rainy or snowy.

No shots fired yet but I passed on a couple of does and a small buck. Too early in the season to shoot a small buck or doe in my primary zone, especially as I will be hunting in a management zone where I can bag 4 does and still have my main tag left for my primary zone. I may not be as charitable starting Wednesday of next week though.

Savage mod 14 in .308win.

Still waiting for the right buck.

Maybe will do some late season bow hunting after turkey day.

smurfman - managed zone is only 2 deer limit.

I'm in shotgun zone so I use a trusty 870 Wingmaster 12GA with scoped rifled barrel and a S&W 686 backup just because. So far this year I could just as well carry a slingshot as all the deer around me must be hiding in the corn fields during the day.

Using a Marlin 1895c (.357mag), so far I haven't seen anything during daylight hours, but I'll be hunting all next week.

Winchester 1300 for my slug zone fun. It does no good as all the deer must be ninja's. Only saw one the whole time and it came up right where it wasn't expected.

Savage 220f with a Nikon pro staff for the slug zone. Should have brought a book instead, everything I saw was too small for the first weekend..but I am sure they will look a bit bigger this coming weekend. Happy Hunting!

This year will be a Browning BLR 308 Win for stand sitting and a Remington 141 Gamemaster Pump 35 Remington for spot and stalk through the brush. Heading up Friday morning for my first time out this season.

I didn't say I was hunting in a a manged zone, I said I was hunting in the managemen zone which allows for 4 antlerless deer (bonus tags) in addition to the primary tag. I still can't think of what it is called though. My primry tag is a lottery zone, that much I remember.

3 lbs of thick cut bacon

...and RobD's Savage 110 in.30-06 with Federal 150gr Fusion loads. ;)

Unfortunately, never got a shot at anything...good thing I had the bacon.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.
