deer hunting with a semi auto

Postby Amazi on Thu Jul 03, 2014 7:06 pm

I recently picked up a dpms 308, it has the standard 20 rnd mag. I herd you can only use 5 rounds when you deer hunting and I also herd there is no limit on how many are in the mag. those 5rnd mags are crazy expensive and I don't wanna spend 35$+ on a little mag if I don't need to. I hate getting mixed reviews when I google.

You "herd" wrong. You could hunt deer with a 100 round mag if you felt the need.

would the mags capacity need to be limited to that number, or if ordered to present it and able to show it does not exceed that maximum allowed number actually loaded in it wouldn't that be good enough? if not you would also be in for trouble for just having an empty mag that has a capacity greater than the maximum number allowed for hunting on your person or in your things that would be dug through during investigation, right?

You could use a 30 round mag and fill it to the top if you wanted. There is no round limit for deer hunting.

No cap limits in MN, at least not for anything you'd normally hunt with a rifle.
I'm not into foul, but I do recall a cap on certain waterfowl.

Some day, I'm gonna get a belt-fed 1919 and rig a mount in my deer stand.
"Why?" You may ask... Well, why not?
I wanna take out an entire heard.

Waterfowl is 3 shells in your shotgun.

I herd what you did there ;-)

There are some states that have mag limits for deer but MN isn't one of them. 3 rounds for waterfowl is federal.
