300 permits in the zone I hunt, and I got a permit last year. I don't need to check - I KNOW I didn't get one.

Is my 2015 boat permit good for does or just a buck?

We're sorry. Your number (XXXXXXXXXXXX) was not drawn in this year's lottery.

WELL; no surprise to me. What does preference 2 mean ? Found it, I didn't read enough, maybe I'm 2 out of 200 or higher.

Everyone in our party has gotten a doe tag so far, quite a few available in the zone though.

I got one for 271. The point thing is from them going to a preference point system. You get a preference point every year you don't draw. IIRC they used to have a dummy area set up if you just wanted a preference point and didn't want to draw that year.

Unfortunately no, I am that ignorant on this topic. I do not live by any large parks so never heard shooting during deer season

You need to relook at the regs book. There is a shotgun line in there you need to be aware of.

Hunting in areas of the metro is feasible but not with a rifle and unless you have already applied for special hunt it is highly unlikely you will be able to find a space to hunt. bow is a bit easier in the metro.

Thanks, I will look into it if I come home empty handed from my trip north to be prepared for next year

I'd suggest reading the reg book either way.

No doe tag for the cabin- its a buck only zone. At least behind the house is a managed hunt zone where taking two deer is allowed.
