caliber and round for white tails

Wondering what you are using for the white tail hunt this year. I'm shooting a Remington 7400 30-06 and I'll likely be using a 165 or 180 grain cartridge. I haven't picked my ammo yet. What are you all using this year?

It's been a while since I've been out but I've had pretty good success taking deer with the 3.8 (liter).

Been really impressed with the Federal Fusion line of ammo's performance on deer over the last 7 or so years. Have used it in 7mm-08 140 gr, .308 150 gr, .270 150 gr, 7.62x39 123gr, 6.8 115gr. The stuff works.

This year I will have 2 kids with their proven .308 bolt action platforms (one with a Rem 700 the other a Savage Axis) shooting 150gr fusions. If I get my new build AR in 7mm-08 sighted in I will be shooting that with 140 gr fusions, otherwise I will grab the trusty .270 with 150 gr fusions.

I'm with the 300AAC NBT 125 gr also. 10 1/2" pistol down here and rifle up by Hinkley if I don't have any luck.

300 AAC Blackout for me too.

Usually I use .30-30 - this will be my first year using 300 AAC Blackout.

Using the Barnes VOR-TX 110 Grain TAC-TX ammunition

I'll be up near Duluth in the intensive harvest area - fill that freezer!

Rifle: Tikka T3 Lite in 7mm-08
Ammo: either Hornady American Whitetail (139 gr Interlock) or reloads with 139 gr Hornady GMX - depends on which is more accurate when I sight it in next weekend.

Since no one else admits it. 223 rem 55g barnes. I know lots of people think it's a bad idea. The last 3 years I've fired 3 shots, killed 3 deer (between 50-170 yards), only had to walk 20 yards to find the biggest buck a butcher had seen in his shop all year. I will still use a 270,308,30-30 here and there.
