I had some venison bacon from Bob's meats in South Dakota. It was possibly the greatest thing on earth. Does anyone know of any "local" shops that make it? I've asked a few but all strike outs.

K & R meats north of Mora does venison bacon, and it's very good.

Thanks for the info! I'm thinking I might actually get a muzzleloader this year and try to fill my freezer.

McDonalds meats in Clear Lake, MN does venison bacon as well. We've used them to process our deer on numerous occasions!

McDonald's in clear lake is just plain amazing in general.

I love stopping in on the way to my cabin

My dad actually makes deer/elk/antelope bacon. It's not traditional belly fat bacon like you get from pork. It's ground meat mixed with pork trimmings and bacon flavored seasonings. Press it into a pan, smoke it, freeze it and run through the slicer. It's pretty good actually.

That makes more sense. I couldn't imagine a deer being fat enough not to mention that much tallow.
