Sounds like they need a Wolf hunt. Trump just took them off the endangered list :D

Opening weekend was a bummer, the weather was too warm and all I saw were the same doe and fawn on Saturday and Sunday. They were not to be seen Monday. Grabbed lunch at the cabin each day and saw up to 7 deer in the yard midday. No antlers but that is common.

Filled an antlerless tag on Thursday behind the house. It was the only deer I saw in 3 days of hunting. The rain and snow threw patterns off from the norm.

Played musical chairs with a pair of decent 8 pt bucks last weekend. Game cameras had him 70 yards away from me on Saturday but with a thicket between us and neither seemed to be aware of the other. He wandered past that stand Sunday morning but I was in a different one. A second 8 pt took the same route in the afternoon but again I was not in the stand. The same happened again with the deer as on Sunday but I chose a different stand due to wind. Monday morning I was waiting for them but they didn't show.

Will go back up for the last weekend, hopefully they will still be around. If nothing else, will fill the tag with one of the hanger ones around the cabin.

Took an 8 point buck a couple of days after the opener. It was late in the afternoon, about 30 minutes before sunset when he wandered out to feed and look around. My nephew got an 8 pointer on opening day. The bucks had been eating well all summer as they both had a lot of fat packed away. I used my 6.5 Grendel AR platform rifle. Loving that rifle for whitetail. It's the 5th season I've used it and I'll never go back to a .30 caliber anything. I really appreciate how little meat damage it does.

Semi's do a real number on a deer. Broadheads do a number on tires.
Ultimately, a bad day for hunter, driver, and deer.

This year has not been a good year for deer in my area. Don't think any of the 5 fawns this spring made it.
Coyotes have been super active this year.
None of the game animals are plentiful. Rabbits, squirrel, pheasant, are all at a low population this fall.

Accident or did the deer fall off? Or a wounded deer that ran onto the road?

Sorry took so long. Didn't see your post.

I think it was wounded and ran in front of the semi. Those big singles on the trailer do spread the weight out, but when one goes flat there's no driving to the next tire shop.

That is a cool picture!

My bow hunter stopped by the house this morning. He told me last night when he got out of his stand there was an 8 point bedded down about 10 yards from his truck. It was after legal hours. He said the buck never moved, just watched him drive away.
There is a reason it's called hunting.

My Marlin 336 death ray took both a smaller buck and a medium doe this year. Hunted north of Taylors Falls. Plenty of does and 3 bucks seen.

Thanks guys! This was my first with a bow, taken in western North Dakota.
Missed a similar one last year.

Saw 5 deer on opening morning prior to taking a nice8 pointer off my home property with a slug gun in 227. Got him to the butcher, picked up a bonus tag on the way home and shot a nice doe after 30 minutes in the same blind that afternoon.

Gonna be good winter.
