Sighting in rifles

Postby Snowgun on Fri Sep 24, 2010 11:21 pm

Hi guys,

Is there a place in the metro area I can sight in my rifle for hunting that pokes out to 200 yrds? One that I can go to one time or so and don't have to be a member?

I have not been there personally but the Caribou Gun Club lets nonmembers shoot at their rifle range (25-350yds) for $20 a day and it is supposed to be a pretty nice facility.

I got a decent lead but i'm curious if there are others. Isn't oakdale open at some point? The caribou place sounds promising...

HMM?, someone was nice enough to post a link to local ranges. To bad someone wasn't interested enough to look through the list. Oh well, guess they get what they put in to it.

Deltone Luth has 200 yd and shorter ranges, but there was a problem with anti-gunners in the neighborhood and a conditional use permit. I don't know if they have the 200 back on line yet, looks like the 100 is. They are in St. Cloud, but open to the public on a pay as you go or membership.

Hey, check it out!

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/shooting_ran ... anges.html

Now isn't that helpful in determining a local shooting range that had the said yardage requirement yardages and was open to non members. Why didn't I just go straight to this list and call all these places instead of thinking that a forum post could utilize social networking knowledge and solve the problem more efficiently? Is the best reply I could hope for an old, seriously outdated thread that doesn't answer the question that was asked?

P.S. I've determined that this inquiry is almost akin to asking where the best pheasant spots are in MN (you know, where those 3 birds hang out... ;) ). And since Westberg(s?) almost blew it by letting the cat out of the bag, I will retire gracefully and use my sketchy underground contacts. :D

Oakdale is open to the public starting this weekend from 8-4 7 days a week through Nov 21st. They have a 200 yard range as requested. Cost is $15 per shooter. You can shoot all day for that price.
