I was already to shoot last night, had the time off, then I messed up and actually heeded what the weather guys were saying. Damn them, damn me.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I stopped by to check it out and look around. Was the guy with the kid. There are two "courses" setup. Beginner and advanced?

Are Glocks or 1911s required or is that just all anyone shoots? ;)

I saw ya ... ya shoulda introduced yerself!

There were doublewide 1911's, XD's, M&P's, and CZ's, as well ... we don't git too many Hi-points! ;)

There were 4 courses set-up on 3 ranges ... everyone takes a turn shooting each of 'em.

Yer gun dictates (to a point) yer division ... yer only scored against others in the same division (we don't score revolvers against 1911's). Here's the scores from last nite ... http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-display-match-results-detail.php?indx=1697

Ya can learn a lot more about it, if ya go to http://ipsc.krok.us/ ('less ya frighten, easily! )

So for those of us not keeping up (and too lazy to google), I see from the scores link above that there are four courses of fire. Can someone describe them briefly?

Timing Is Everything:
Some targets, some targets, 3 steel, one which activates a pop up and then a covering targtet, a foot activator which triggers a dissapearing target. More targets

Walls of Dignity: Plan it out and then stick to the plan. long bank of front wallls with 3 widely spaced ports to shoot from. between you and a lot of targets are 3 other blocking walls spaced so that from any port, you can see some of the targets to the left and some to the right but not all of them. as you work it from port to port, you're addressing some from the left that you can see, swing far right and address what you can see. Next port, same thing. The problems I saw were people who took EVERY target they could see at port one and then either forgot to look back left or thought they had already addressed one of the targets.

Rugersol promises Walls of Shame soon :-(

Box Drill 3:
3 targets reasonably spaced. two shooting boxes. I suspect 7 and 10 yards but didn't pace it off. Boxes are centered on targets. from far box, shoot each target 3 times, move to close box, mandatory reload, from close box, 2 to each of 3 targets.

Bang and Clang:
2 big poppers, 1 target, 2 big poppers. knock down the poppers, 2 shots to the target. Easy, right?

I ROYALLY screwed up on Bang and Clang. IDK WTF I was doing but it was NOT pretty.

Walls of Shame was actually the first course I designed (of the two) ... there was so much whining, bitching, and crying after that, I created Walls of Dignity.

Walls of Shame was requested  ... I'll hafta see what I can find! Image

Walls of shame is... a gamer's nightmare. They'll spend hours discussing the best way, in the end, if you shoot em as you see em, it's ok.
Better 4 hits on 1, than none. I thought I had it saved somewhere, but apparently I don't.
