Shooter 115

I believe that is called "practice" and in my book that is the same as "cheating". Ha!

That's not cheating. Cheating would be having your shoelaces tied together in the start box, magazine floorpates that mysteriously fall off, poppers propped up with a stick, having a sharp pencil handy to poke holes in "no-shoots", things of that nature. Hey.......I've got to beat you somehow

I'll distract him so you can do your thing...

Planning on making it out to this one too. Hopefully I do a little better this time. I'm sure I won't be as nervous, and picked up a few more pistol mags so I won't run out at the end of stages. Still haven't came up with a plan on how to hold the Saiga 12 mags if there is gonna be a big shotgun stage. :D

BTW Shooter congrats on the little one! My first is due next week.

Glad your coming back Camaro. For technical info on 3-gun you have to check out the Enos forum http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?act=idx There's a better collection of knowledge over there than anywhere else on the web, at least that I've found. Search around and I'm sure there is something on Saiga mag pouches.

Thanks and good luck with your little one. There's really nothing that can truly prepare you for it. Best wishes for you, mom and baby

Thanks a lot Shooter! Do we know what max rifle distance is gonna be in this shoot? I may consider changing optics on the AR since I will be running open class with the Saiga anyways. Thinking about running a scope with a offset red dot if were gonna have to shoot further than 200yds, if not i'm sure the Eotech would suffice.

I think the SCAPSA range is a max 200 yards at the most, and thats probably only on one bay. I can't really say for certian, I've only been there for the Ruger Rimfire shoot last summer where things were set up pretty short. Maybe others who have been to their 3-gun shoots will hopefully chime in and educate us both.

SCAPSA's max range is 100. In reality by the time we get the stage set up in the bay you're probably only looking at 80-85 yards of shooting.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

Even though the max range will only be around 90 yards, the targets will be in such a way that it will challenge the marksmanship of even the best shooters.

Because the range is somewhat limited by distance, course designers are sometimes forced to use their imagination when it comes to setting up challenging courses of fire. I know we all practice non-dominant side shooting (with all three weapons), and that is a good thing. I'm just sayin' :D

02-15-12 UPDATE: The March 3, 2012 SCAPSA match is fast approaching. The cost of the match is $25. There will be no food at this match as SCAPSA is still recovering from the fire and has no electricity. Set up will begin at 0730 hour. We can use all the help we can get. This is one of the core concepts of the Group ( to be able to set up matches ). Sign in will finish at 0930 with a shooters meeting. There will be 4 courses of fire with at least 2 guns used per stage. As usual, 100 rounds for each gun should get you through with plenty to spare. At this time we have no plans for any slugs but it would not hurt to have 10 on hand. Birdshot and No steel core ammo. Direct your questions to me at jay@mn3gungroup.org.

Thanks and see you on the range.

Looking forward to it, just got out today and ran about another 200 practice rounds. Also just got confirmation we'll have another shooter from the Morris area making his 3-gun debut. He came with me to the Ruger rimfire match last year, finished above middle of the field and handled homself in a very safe mannor. Not too bad for his first time ever in a competition shoot. He's coming over to my place tomorrow to go over his gear, rules and expectations and put in an order for any "must haves" he's missing.

So far I think there will be at least 3 of us making the trip from Morris. As always, we'll try to get there early enogh to lend a hand with set-up, but it is a 2 hour drive for us, so I won't make any promises. Looking forward to seeing you all at the range for the first event of 2012

Well, I guess it's pretty official that I'm not gonna make this one. Too much family stuff going on.

Oh well. I was having a hard time deciding which rifle to shoot anyway. :gun:

I will be at the Clearwater Truckstop restaurant for breakfast between 0630 - 0700 hrs. I will hopefully be having two other shooters tagging along.

Set up starts at 0730 hrs. and we could use help. It is very hard for me to carry the heavy steel targets when I have a donut in one hand and a hot cup of coffee in the other. :D
