If anyone has a spare blade tec or bungee topped AR mag pouch I could borrow, I'd appreciate it.

Sorry Norse my extra mag holder is on loan as well.
But now I need to go buy all the tactical wear, and since my beretta's (2mags 15rd each-enough?) the only one with a holster (other than my CCW, not bringing that thing for this), I'll be the idiot with the mossberg uber-home-defense style pump, and the beretta on the hip-hmm, maybe thigh. Guess that'll be a shopping trip tomorrow, and sans wifey

Taz, I wouldn't go out and buy a bunch of "tactical" gear just yet. You will learn a ton about what works for 3-gun gear at your first match. For now I would just get a good gun belt(which you probably already have since you carry), if you don't it's overdue. a double mag holder for pistol mags (yes, you should try to have 3 mags) and a secure holser for your Beretta(I'm asuming a 92 variant). You will be just fine with one extra AR mag in your back pocket. Get by with what you can for now, take the time to be safe, and have fun. More than likely after your first match you will be addicted, but at that point you will have a much better idea what you want to pick up for gear. Beware you are about to enter the rabbit hole :D

The best clothing to wear is a pair of Cargo pants. Lots of pockets to put magzines in, and cargo pockets to put shotgun shells in if you don't have anything better. A couple of tight fitting long sleeve shirts tucked inside your belt and you should be good to go for shooting.

You won't see much Tactical Ninja wear at these shoots. I hope everyone knew that I was joking with my earlier comment. Knee pads and elbow pads have their place in 3-gun and I highly recommend you purchase some farther down the line (if you find you like the sport), but they won't be needed at this match.

Most military type chest rigs are handy for carrying things around, but for the most part you will find they slow you down at these types of competitions. If you watch some of the better shooters, you will see what they are wearing and what they are shooting, they are doing so for a reason.

Come on out to have a good time. If you are lacking a piece of equipment, we will do our best to assist.

Also, I just got one of the new JP silent captured springs in the mail today. I will bring it if anyone wants to check it out.

I can always stuff two AR mags in my left rear jeans pocket if I can't track one down, but I'm sick and tired of my velcro flap pouches and am not gonna bring them.

I might have something for you, it's made for 308, but it's elastic canvas type of deal so it should work fine with the 223.

At this local club matches most ro's will let you "stage" mags wherever you may think you may need them, if you don't have mag pouches.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

That was fun! Very well put on and great job with informing the Noobs how to do things (and a little one on one assistance was more than appreciated!). Learned a Mossberg 500 tactical not the best gun for three guns, shoulda brought the 870. But now I know I need to go buy things. Expensive things. Wife not present expensive things.

Also a shout out to Brandon who let me borrow his AR.

Yea tons of fun again! Thanks to Jay and Brian for the great stages and thanks to SCAPSA for letting us shoot there.

ETA: Btw Taz which group were you in? Always hard to put Site names to faces. If you were in my squad you can't miss me, I am the one that can't hit anything with the blue Saiga 12.

I was in Squad 2. I was the one with a totally incorrect shotgun, that hit the short-range stuff fine, but could not knock down anything further, Jay thought it was the style barrel on it. Stage 1 gave me no trouble though, including that little black circle at the end of the "bowling pins". :D

upcomming 3 gun match

A mossberg 500 can be one of the better pump shotguns for three gun because of the ease of reloading
A barrel with screw in choke tubes is a must, IC & LM being the most common, most top end pump guys are running a benelli nova-huge loading area
I was out of town and could not make the match but saw some pics, looked like the evil spinner was back
The key is a full choke to spin it w/o a special HD load

Unfortunately I didn't make it
Hopefully I'll get a chance to try my kneepads the next match. After the match in dec. that was the first thing on my shopping list.

Tazdevil, My thought is that mossberg with an 18 inch barell has a cylinder choke or is open. Too much dispersion at distance. Not enough patern to deliver energy transfer. Those poppers we just being tickled Patern it on some paper at various distance. IC and mod are most common.

Mark. The. Mod rolled the spinner in 2 shots

Definetly another great match by the MN 3-Gun Group. Almost 60 shooters with the cool weather is outstanding. My neighbor came with for his first 3-gun and had a blast. My buddy Steve came out for his second match and did very well. Personally my performance was pathetic, but it was a blast anyways and once again learned a lot. Also thanks to the folks at SCAPSA for hosting the match.

Fully open, just looked it up (in that last bay we where in, the clays where hole punched instead of broke). FWIW, that gun was for the wife to use for home, with her MS, she was afraid to use anything else, and the pump-assist handle that attaches at the bottom (which I took off as I didn't want to be in open division) leaves her a very simple functioning shotgun. Jay, thanks for the pointers on shouldering the AR as well, it definitely made a difference on ability and comfort of shooting. Also helped me be able to finish the last bay we did within the time frame, so I was able to do one stage that was not a DNF due to time. Looking forward to next time a 3 gun is put on.

Oh and Mark spinning the spinner with 2 shots was wild to see!
