Oakdale Gun Club Membership

Postby hans1499 on Thu Mar 15, 2012 3:29 pm

Is the Oakdale Gun Club currently accepting new members? I don't see anything listed on the new website and I'm interested in joining.

There is a waiting list.

Sign up for the list on the OGC website. Could be a year or few until you get your invitation letter, but it is so very worth it.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

I looked on the new website and I'm not seeing anything for signing up on the waiting list... (This could very well be user error!)

They recently revamped the website and it appears they are not finished working on it.

This, give it a month then it should be back up. Just a guess on my part though. Maybe some of the new members this year will let you know how long their wait time was.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Hopefully their website is fully up and running soon so I can get on the waiting list.

Any suggestions for another good place to join in the mean time? I'm looking for a place with at least a 200 yard range that is open during mid-week and hopefully not too far from Minneapolis (under 35 miles would be ideal). OCG is probably my first choice because of location and feedback I've seen on forums but I don't want to wait a year without having a place to shoot.

Beaverbrook is the only other place close to town that doesn't have a waiting list that I know of. Maybe Delano or Rainbow in Glencoe. Come out to some of the events and meet some of us, I bet there is a member of this board at Oakdale just about every day that would be willing to have you as a guest.

Are you a vet or son (or grandson)of a vet? Post 435 Gun Club is accepting new members. We have 200, 100, and 50 yd rifle ranges, along with a pistol range with 25, 50 and 75 ft berms. The only potential disqualifier is that you have to be a member of the Richfield American Legion or SAL. Also, during the summer, the rifle and pistol ranges get shut down on Tuesday afternoons for CMP, and Wednesday afternoons for skeet.

ETA - forgot to mention, you can be a grandson of a vet, too.

The longest range at BeaverBrook is 100 yrds. Another great place to shoot.

My step dad was a vet but I'm not sure how all that works out.

Does anyone have any feedback about the Hudson Rod, Gun, and Archery Club, Forest Lake Sportsmens Club or the Bald Eagle Sportsmans Association? I guess I'm leaning on a place on the Eastern or NorthEastern side of the Metro.

And can anyone explain why the Forest Lake Sportsmans Clubs one-time fee to join is $526? What benefit do you get above other places for this additional price?
