we're on! ... rain 'er shine!

we'll do our best to stay dry!

if the range is flooded again, we'll forego the $5 fee, go over the safety rules 'n what not ... and see if we can set up something stupid simple on the 25yd (under a roof).

we'll meet on the "Comp" range (as ya come down the driveway, it'll go right past the classroom on the left ... go down the hill between that, and the old clubhouse, on the right).

again, keep guns cased!

Was planning on being there tonight. I got called in to work today until 1800. I won't be making it. Shouldn't have any problem with dust tonight. LOL

agreed!

Again, next Thursday, the 10th, is not a regular league match.

Here's the plan, as of yet ...

• USPSA DQ/safety rules apply ... finger, 180°, AD, et. al.

• gun's gotta be a AR-15 lower w/centerfire upper, or USPSA-legal pistol

• if USPSA-legal pistol, standard SAFE AREA/holster rules apply

• if AR-15 lower, guns MUST be cased up to the start position, ONLY uncased at the RO's direction, and re-cased immediately after "unload and show clear" ... no riding carts

• show-n-tell in SAFE AREA only ... NO ammo in the SAFE AREA ... watch your muzzle!

• round-count may be over 100rd ... I'd bring 150 - 200rd ... 3 stages ... again, this is for fun ... if ya run out, ya probly wouldn't've won the new Chevy, anyhow ... we'll try to make liberal use of 20rd mags ... I'd bring at least one 30rd, too  ... if ya want, ya can use all 30rd mags, but mostly 20rd will be fine!

• the spirit of this was to give the AR pistols a venue ... carbines and "normal" pistols are allowed for folks who ain't got the cool stuff

• targets will be 30yd - 75yd ... there will be movement ... and at least one mandatory reload per course

• no bipods! ... no mono-pods! ... vertical-grip is ok so long as it don't touch the ground 'er such, for support

• ya can shoot standing, kneeling, prone ... whatever ... but there will be movement, and ya will be timed

• we'll have sign-up and scoresheets for $5/ea (only one entry per shooter) ... we'll record your time on your scoresheet ... we'll see how scoring goes ... if we hafta abandon it, it's jest a fun-shoot! ... when ya sign up, indicate one of "AR Pistol", "AR Rifle", "USPSA Pistol" ... also indicate one of "Open Sights", "1x Optic", or "1.1x+ Optic" ... if scoring works, I'll post a spreadsheet

• no tracers, no incendiaries, and no green-tip ... I'll go ahead and recommend ya avoid the cheap steel-cased stuff ... these guns are gonna get hot ... don't want a case "glued" into your chamber

• show up by 4:30 at the latest ... everyone helps set-up ... stay 'til everyone's done shooting ... everyone helps clean-up ... no discounts ... everyone shoots for $5

• if all goes well, we should start shooting shortly after 5:00 ... but we'll all meet on the Comp to make sure everyone understands the casing/uncasing and such ... and any other last-minute details

• there'll be squad sign-up sheets ... do your best to help ensure each squad has the same number of shooters

• bring a shotgun! ... if the upper and lower lots are full, ya might wanna check out our trap range ... open to the public on Thursdays! ;)

• this is for fun! ... don't over-extend yourself! ... if you're an avid 3-gunner, this ain't the time to try something "new" :? ... if you're not, take it easy! ;)

• if ya didn't attend our orientation last nite ... or Pine Island's (I think that's tomorrow?) ... or ain't otherwise a classified USPSA/IDPA member ... this is not for you Image

... to be continued Image ...

This will be the first non-match of this style I have run, so I will do my best.

As Rugersol said, bring a shotgun and some ammo for trap, in case we run into issues.

Sounds like we ran into issues. :?

Message I got from Tim indicates OGC BOD has indicated the use of AR-type guns instead of "regular" USPSA-type pistols is "unauthorized".

Of course, AR-type guns are not only perfectly legal for USPSA Multi-gun competition, they're typically favored.

Also a shame ... it sounds like lotsa folks were looking forward to this.

Sorry. Image

It's still a bit early in the year to try to run a regular match. At this point, I'd say find something else to do, tomorrow nite.

The agreement I have with Oakdale Gun Club is for USPSA "pistol" matches, and does not cover the scope of multi-gun at this time.
We have not been given permission by the board to run a rifle match, and I feel that running a match like this, with no experience with multi-gun, or rifle matches, would be looked upon very poorly by the board, and could have long term consequences for Oakdale USPSA

Sorry for the inconvenience, and trouble
Regular league matches start Thursday, May 17th

It would be an easy out for me to get out of running the league, but not really the way I would like.

Too bad I was excited to shoot the new dissipator tomorrow!

Any OGC members willing to take me as a guest tomorrow? I would love a chance to shoot my new rifle on the 200YD range, and I already have a couple hundred rounds of ammo in magazines!

Shoot me a PM if so, as a show of my appreciation I will also by the first round @ Peppers afterward!

Technical question:

I shot a Glock 30 last year w/ G21 mags...It has a rail and a laser / light...I simply detached the light to shoot.

This year I want to shoot a single stack 9mm. I got 5 mags for it and that should be fine. However it has a CT laserguard on it

which is of course activated by the grip of the third finger on the grip....

Can I just tape over the laser instead of unscrewing the grip each week?

Reason is I don't want to round off the the surfaces of the TINY set screws by attaching / reattaching each week.

I suspect it may reasonably keep it's Zero after an attach / re-attach cycle...it's just that it would be a ROYAL pain if

I strip out the surfaces of the set screws.

I haven't looked it up, so I could be wrong, but I'd guess the laser is Open division only ... if that.

Bottom line here is if someone calls ya on it. I can't imagine that anyone would ... particularly so long as they see no little red dots moving on the targets. But, if they did, I don't see how ya wouldn't be bumped to Open ... particularly from Single-Stack or Production.

If it was me, I wouldn't worry about it.

If I was otherwise worried about it, maybe put on regular grips over the summer? Image

IMO, if it's yer defensive gun, and ya carry/keep it, expecting to use the laser, I'd shoot it in USPSA with the laser ... sign up for Open! Image
