I don't think I can make it for orientation. My work has an open house I have to be at next Thursday. Can I show up the next time or am I SOL?

You Tube is the number 2 search engine after Google...and you can find all kinds of stuff there...whole movies from the 40's to instructions on how to clean your keyboard (which I used last night) It sounds like someone could stick a $300 digital camcorder on a tripod in the back of the room and post the whole thing in one to four parts....you could watch it on a tablet while making dinner.

The orientation is next Thursday.

It consists of a classroom session (starting at 6PM), followed by a short, simple, sample stage (say that three times fast...). Bring a box of ammo (you shouldn't need more), your pistol (cased!). If you've got a safe holster, and mag/speedloader carriers, bring them, too. If you don't have a holster yet, don't rush out and buy something cheap just to have one for the orientation. You can get buy without one for now.

Should be through by 9.

The team putting on the matches met yesterday, and here's the highlights for the Orientation:
1) If you don't have a holster that stays open (allowing one-handed re-holstering), don't bring it; they are unsafe and won't be allowed. You will be required to shoot from a low-ready and have 2 seconds (up from 1 second in the past) added to your time.
2) The quick orientation stage (which we've roughed out) will be 6 targets with 12 rounds; bring a box of ammo for re-shoots if your pistol malfunctions (or bring a Glock ;) ).
3) If you can't be there by 6, come anyway; you won't be turned away from the classroom, but you must have attended the classroom (even if late) to shoot the orientation stage.
4) We should be finished by 9PM.

For the matches, if you attend without a holster, the 2 second rule applies, plus a procedural will be added...once. After that, you will get no credit for the match. Two weeks between the orientation and the first match or between matches should be sufficient time for you to get a safe holster for the next time.

We'll have a copy of the rules at each match. READ THEM in case something has changed.

Some people have told me (in the past) that I'm making too much of nothing about the holster issue. I'm not. If you can't holster one-handed, your holster is unsafe, INCLUDING holsters where you CAN open the top by pointing the gun at your body and prying the holster open. Can you say, DQ? :shameonyou: :hammer: :wack: :rulez:

I think you are doing the right thing regarding the holster issue skyrock. Not only is it a serious safety issue, ( for the shooter AND the RO's) but it's an integral part of the game.

A holster can be purchased for the price of 2-3 boxes of ammo, so there really is no excuse.

The Glock Sport/Combat holster can be bought for less than some ammo! ;) I've got 2 that are about 20 years old, and I still use them.
