Many years ago, I started this league as Bullseye. Course of fire, different yardage, timed shooting, the whole nine yards.
Over the years, because of the shooter's skill levels and comments from them, I changed it from the Bullseye format to what is basically a handicap shooting league.
The shooter shoots 50 rounds at their leisure at targets that will vary from 10-25 yards. Yardage is determined by me and how well of a shot each shooter is.
I have had novices start at 10 yards, and by the end of the league, after working with them, I had them moving out to 20 yards.
The skill of my shooters varied so much, that with Bullseye, the better ones were so far ahead after three weeks that the competition was pretty much over.
With this format, most shooters can still be in the money at all times.
It's pretty much like when I shot ATA Trap and some shooters were shooting from 26 yards and others were at 23 yards.
Hardcore competition this isn't. My shooters want more low key, safe and fun shooting. Guys will bring in different guns and after shooting league they and all the other shooters will take turns shooting everybody else's pistols.
Also, once a shooting gets done shooting their league rounds, they are welcome to stay as long as they want and shoot any safe gun that they want to shoot. They don't bring their own target for this, I have all of the targets at no charge.
You can pretty much get the feeling of these leagues by hanging out during the Open Shooting Day.
Hope this explains this.
