You'd think so, but it doesn't work out that way.

I just finished an analysis of the last match, only this time I included the OA Pct Rate, and each stages' OA Pct Rate, and sorted them accordingly. They appear mixed as TH3180 noted. Once you separate by Division, the results are no longer valid for an OA comparison.

Maybe I should remove the OA results from the scoresheet???!!

I knew I shouldn't have brought it up, I like having OA results on there.

So here's the deal that is still getting me - Comparing TH3180's and my results, his OA Pt Rate was better than mine, but his OA rank was worse:

Stage 1.....Pts.....time.....Pt Rate
TH3180.....78.....24.42.....3.194103194
MN01R6.....74.....20.37.....3.632793324

Stage 2.....pts.....time.....Pt Rate
TH3180.....88.....17.34.....5.074971165
MN01R6.....58.....13.12.....4.420731707

OA..........Pts.....time..........Pt Rate...............OA Ranking
TH3180.....166.....41.76.......3.975............13
MN01R6.....132.....33.49.......3.941............11

It would seem my -10 penalty wasn't counted and that my OA pts were calculated to be 142 instead of 132, making my OA Pt Rate 4.240 instead of the 3.941 it should be.

Same holds true for the person with initials EB that placed #5 in open and 10th overall - he had -30 penalty points that should have dropped him to 3.885 pt rate overall (and ranked him below TH3180 AND me in the OA standings).

Also - I plugged in the points for each stage and the time for each stage of the top 6 in production and it looks like the #3 finisher should have come in first and the #6 finisher should have come in 5th.

Production overall.....Pts.....Time.....Overall Pt Rate
JP.......................162.....40.6.......3.990
KC.......................164.....41.33.....3.968
MM......................148.....36.59.....4.044
JR.......................132......33.49....3.941
MN......................162......45.74....3.541
JL.......................158......43.47.....3.634

That's your problem. You're taking the stage pts and times and combining them to get the overall score! Nope!

The overall score on each stage is taken by:
1. Calculate the Point Rate.
2. Compare it to the highest point rate of all shooters. Award that shooter 100%.
3. Other shooters' score = 100 * (shooter's point rate)/(top shooter's point rate)

The division scores on the stages are done the same way, except that the top shooters' point rates are used with the other shooters' point rates, within that division.

Now for the match scores. For the overall match score:
1) Calculate the average of the overall point rates for the stages.
2) Repeat step 2, above.
3) Repeat step 3, above.

Here's a summary of the two of you (with something I just caught):
Match Overall Results - 3/21/2013
Name,,,,PF,,,,OA,Pct,R,,OA,Place,,Div,,Stage,1,Pct,,Stage,2,Pct,,Match,Pct,,Place
MN01R6,,Minor,,,,62.26,,,,,,,,11,,Prod,,,,,,,94.74,,,,,,,,77.41,,,,,,97.70,,,,,,4
TH3180,,Major,,,,60.00,,,,,,,,13,,Lim,,,,,,,,71.43,,,,,,,,72.45,,,,,,71.94,,,,,,3

Stage 1 Overall,Results - 3/21/2013
Name,,,,PF,,,,,Pts,,Pen,,,Time,,Pt,Rate,,OA,Pct,R,,OA,Place,,Div,,,Pct,Rate,,Place
MN01R6,,Minor,,,74,,,,,,,20.37,,,3.6328,,,,,72.49,,,,,,,,11,,Prod,,,,,94.74,,,,,,2
TH3180,,Major,,,78,,,,,,,24.42,,,3.1941,,,,,63.74,,,,,,,,16,,Lim,,,,,,71.43,,,,,,4

Stage 2 Overall,Results - 3/21/2013
Name,,,,PF,,,,,Pts,,Pen,,,Time,,Pt,Rate,,OA,Pct,R,,OA,Place,,Div,,,Pct,Rate,,Place
TH3180,,Major,,,88,,,,,,,17.34,,,5.0750,,,,,38.14,,,,,,,,12,,Lim,,,,,,72.45,,,,,,4
MN01R6,,Minor,,,68,,-10,,13.12,,,4.4207,,,,,33.22,,,,,,,,24,,Prod,,,,,77.41,,,,,,7
(Sorry about the spacing. Copy and paste it into a text file using Courier New, and edit out all commas.)

Another reason for your differences is that YOU AREN'T IN THE SAME DIVISION! (That's what I just caught.) I can change the division of either of you with just a few keystrokes, and then get the result.

However, we should probably take this off-line since we're using space for only 3 or 4 interested people. Feel free to PM or e-mail me.

I am sure there are others...

I missed this while I was working up my other response. Does it answer your question?

no but I will take it offline with you and TH...

bottom line is I should not be at 62% OA...I should be at 59.33% and the difference is that my -10 penalty point has not been deducted properly when figuring my OA percentage. It was when figuring my stage percentage and my division percentage, but not my OA percentage.

Ok Mike. We got my scoring misunderstanding resolved and we had a great shoot tonight. I am patiently waiting for your evil side, but I think it started to come out 2 weeks ago...next time might be a bit more interesting.

I just have to point out that it looks like everyone that shot the North Bay first didn't use the plastic tub to put their magazines in...

We asked Mike about it before we stared the stage because the course description didn't say we had to use it. He said the box was an option NOT a requirement.

Gamer Pro tip:
Technically you only have to do what is explicitly in the course description and in the general rule book. ;)
