The rules we use are in the latest edition of the USPSA rule book, and/or in the BPR PPWL Rules (most recent). Many people forget the second part.

You live and you learn I guess. I set the box on its side so using the box may have contributed hundreths of a second to my time, but my major downfall was my inaccuracy due to my unfamiliarity with the gun I was using. I left 32 points (17% of the total available) on the course because my doubles and triples weren't hitting their mark.

From the guy that brought the wrong rig and won both stages in SS. Never happy are you?

Thanks for getting the scores out Mike.

I've moved up the chart quite a bit but don't feel like my skills have improved that amount, does gun selection really matter that much in a division like production?

This was posted a few pages back but I think it bears repeating to partially address your question. As a newb myself I wouldn't want to say anything completely wrong, so I will just shut up. What gun are you running? Isn't in an XD or Glock or something like that that's pretty standard, ergonomic, reliable, and accurate?

When you get to 4 and 5 their importance is almost nonexistent

Yeah, it's a G34. Maybe the sights are simply better than the FNP I was shooting, helping me out in transitions. I certainly don't feel faster. I need to invest in a timer and head out to my parent's farm and setup some targets.

Burnsville Practical Pistol Winter League - 2013

Postby Snowgun on Sat Apr 06, 2013 9:15 am

I would say equipment is about 5-20% of the issue. The high number is when you are shooting something like a high point and you are pulling mags out of your pockets. For me, high bore axis 9mm give me accuracy issues when going fast. Only accounts for a little bit tho.

If PRS can win a stage in the production division last match using a revolver, that means you have some practicing to do with your current rig. ;)

When you get a handle on the basics and your personal style of muscle memory, different/better equipment can complement that.

Oh yeah, I need to practice. Thursday was only the third time I shot it and last match was the first. I'm mainly asking because I was posting mid twenties scores and after switching to the G34 I finished 6th and 3rd. That change seems way off from the 5-20% change you say.

What changed? I don't think it's me and I can't believe switching from major to minor is that big of a deal. Are people shooting other divisions for fun and I'm just moving up that way?

Need a little bigger sample size. Correlation is not causation. ;)

Some stage designs are easier for some people than others, and sometimes your just "on". And maybe glocks work better for you.

Haha, that's a very nice way of saying I got lucky. I don't disagree with you though.

Burnsville Practical Pistol Winter League - 2013

This summer shoot some leagues with both guns, you will start to notice a difference as your skills improve. It will still only be a small percentage of your overall performance, all things considered.

I am going to have to borrow some extra mags for my Shield...unless it is a 15-round course of fire.

I have four (two 7, two 8) you can borrow... you can use my mini-tuck as well if you need it. :D
