MN State Ruger Rimfire Challenge Match

Postby Keith on Tue Jun 04, 2013 11:45 am

Once again SCAPSA will be hosting the MN state Ruger Rimfire Challenge match.
Steel challenge format but family, kid and new shooter friendly.
You need a rifle and pistol but NO...they do not have to be Ruger firearms.
Saturday July 13th & Sunday July 14th. You would shoot either day, not both.
Lots of prizes. All by random draw. I recall at least 3 guns last year.

Here's a short little video of what it's all about. (that I can't seem to embed)

Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

Man, this sounds so awesome. I love Ruger, I love shooting rimfire and I love having the chance to win guns.

I hate having to ask this, but how much ammo is needed for one of these shoots? I take it participants are required to provide their own ammo?

22 seems to be slightly more available than a couple months ago, but its still pretty scarce.

One way or another, sounds like a blast. I hope I can make it.

Shooters need to bring at least 240 rounds of .22 LR. How much more than that you want to bring kind of depends on how much you plan on missing. ;) General rule of thumb for these larger matches is to double the minimum round count. It's better to take home any leftover ammo than to not have enough to finish.

Ha! Yeah that makes sense I guess. I will be one of those people who need to bring double the minimum ammo requirement ;)
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, Keith.

Great match, thanks to Keith, Bob, Tim, Bill
A big thanks to the sponsors Taccom, Ruger, Nordic Components, SCAPSA
Great weather, i think 20 degrees cooler than past years
A full session on Sunday, even with rimfire ammo shortages

This was my first ever rimfire match. A little different from what I'm used to, but I had a whole lot of fun. Thanks Keith, Bob, and Bill.

Results should have been e-mailed to everybody and they are up on the SCAPSA website now.

According to my calculations we put about 20,000 rounds downrange over the two days. Damn! Is that right? Somebody may want to check my math as I have a hard time counting past 6 at times.

Sorry Keith, I can't help you there. I had a hard time counting up to 4 strings when I was shooting. I was having so much fun that the RO had to keep telling me that I was done shooting after the 4th string.

My grandson and I enjoyed the match a lot, always a good, well run match at SCAPSA. You math is correct and generous. I'm sure most of us missed more than a few times, so the number is at least 20,000.

Anyone know where I can replace all the CCI Mini Mag ammo we shot up ?
