Rochester MN is roped off!

Postby GunSellingInstructor on Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:38 pm

Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

I did some calling around and the only range that I found that you can shoot in Rochester is Southern Minnesota Sportsman's Club. This is where I called to check if I could bring students to the facility to shoot the qualifications for the carry permit classes. The short and sweet NO. The bitter truth is one person is able to do that there and I want mention any names. I just wanted some input from others what do you know about this.

Yes, It's under the exclusive control of S.B.

Pine Island might (don't know, I'm not a member there): http://www.piwpsc.org/

My understanding is that SMSC only allows their own training at their facilities. Apparently they had some issues in the past with other trainers doing stupid things.

Many clubs only allow members to train.......yes, SMSC had an incident a ways back with an outside group. They trust the person doing the training and she contributes to the club in other ways as well.

On a side note, what's with all the twin cities instructors doing classes down in Rochester? Should I take that to mean that I demand here is high enough that I should bump up my long term goal of being an instructor? ;)
