3 gun match Dec 1, 2012

Postby J.Schmitt on Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:28 pm

Our last match of the year is at Minnetonka Game and Fish. 0800 set up with 0930 match briefing. Please come help set up if you are able. That is what makes these matches happen. 100 rounds of ammo for all 3 guns should get you through, always good to bring some extra, or a friend who has extra. We will shoot out to 200 yards and have 4 stages. Birdshot only and no steel core ammo.

I'm sure no one will mind, we get spectators occasionally at USPSA and IDPA matches. Just be sure to bring eye and ear protection.

DO NOT SHOW UP AT A MATCH JUST TO WATCH! It will be a total waste of a shoot for you.

You are only going to learn by doing and these local MN 3gun group shoots are a great place to do so. If you need guns or gear post up here in advance and i am sure someone will let you borrow whatever you need.

Remember your not going to light the world on fire or impress anyone with your skillz, you will impress the crowd a lot more by being humble and realistic about your limitations and competing safely at whatever speed you can shoot.

Shooting sports are not much of a spectator sport, get out and shoot an event, dont just show up to watch.

Awesome! I'm going to bring the 44 Desert Eagle again and sign up for Heavy Metal.

That's easy for me as I have no optic.

OK, promod1385 I would love to shoot it. I have never shot one before, and never shot any competition before. I have a Glock 34 and holster with some mags and mag pouches. Where would I post to borrow the rest of what I need? I could supply my own ammo obviously. I am considering getting either an AR 15, or a shotgun very soon so I might possibly have one of those two guns, but I don't have the accessories or other gear is sounds like you really need to shoot this type of event. Can you help me then figure out where to post to borrow, and also where would I go to sign up?

Promods right.... If your going to go you might as well join in the fun. Right now I'm about 95% sure I'll be at the match. Shoot me a PM, pretty sure I have enough extra gear to get you through your first match, guns and all (your ammo though). Be happy to squad with you and help where I can. Just focus on taking it easy and having a good time. Worry too much about smoking the course first time out often leads to disaster.

PMd Thank you, I also need to know where to sign up or do I just show up? Also, how much is the entry fee?

Just show up to sign up. If you help set up in the morning, you will also be able to talk to other shooters. Fee should be $25 or less.

Awesome, thanks. I will plan on showing up and helping set up and all. I will know if I can go as soon as I get response from Shooter, or someone else knowing I can borrow their gear for sure.

What kind of shotgun loads would work for this?

I have some clay loads laying around, but I am curious if they will work for the shotgun portions of the course.

Thanks.
