I wasn't talking about making a pistol range open to the public year round...I was talking about revamping what we have and opening it under the same schedule we currently use for public hours.

IMHO that leaves plenty of time for the "membership" to enjoy the facilities.

Frankly, the membership NEEDS an expansion of short range pistol capabilities as well. The last few times I've been out there on a weekend I haven't been able to use the short range since there were already 5-6 other members on it. Trying to get everyone there to agree to a distance...and then having to pause every 2 minutes since they want to check/rehang their targets...ugh...plus, no holster work with others in such close proximity.

That gives me the option of shooting short on the covered 25, oops, no can't do that either since there's 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 guys on that one with their .22's and AR's. Could goto the Comp 25yd...but whats the point. So, now, me with a membership, and wanting to shoot my pistol...have to go to Bill's and pay my $25 if I want to shoot at anything shorter than 25yds. I could go during the week...weekday mornings and most afternoons its empty...but that generally requires taking time off of work.

I think a short pistol range improvement would benefit everyone, members and the public, and continue to keep OGC on the spot as a premier shooting sports facility in the Twin Cities.

Please please please tell me you're going to the annual meeting? You're making a great point and I've seen you be convincing and polite with Joan Peterson. Surely you could make headway with gunnies, right?

I'd love for you to be able to come and make some of these points -- we share a similar point of view on the future of the club.. You should run for something :)

In between all my other volunteer activities I'm sure I could carve out 3-4 minutes a month and still make a living, shouldnt be much more than that right...

...although you know what they say about people who don't get involved.

My kids test for a belt in Taekwondo on Saturday morning, I have to be there as the official Gym photographer (and as their Dad)...otherwise I'd be at the meeting for sures.

Great idea. Imagine, USPSA ROs, IDPA SOs and NRA ROs working together for the good of all of us.

I'd be willing to teach the formal USPSA orientation class, I've done it at several other clubs in the past.

As a NRA Chief RSO, I'm all for this...

I'm hoping when I get done with grad school in 18 months, I can actually have some time for competition. USPSA looks like a lot of fun.

Same one who told me who I should vote for.

Tim, are you getting these emails through the OGC email system or from another members private email?

I consider this a very large issue in my mind, that a person in charge of a small group of semi-influential members, is acting in this manor. Previous to this I thought he was fairly pleasant to deal with. But when you are very obviously using your position on the board to try to influence the votes of people who run most of the activities at OGC, you are stepping outside of your position as manager of those activities as a whole, and playing into more political bully type position.

I'm not sure WHY the fact that there are still open spaces for people at the annual meeting wasn't sent to everyone, but it seems to have been sent to specific people only.
I'm also not sure how, with 1200(+?) members, they can restrict the people who can attend a meeting like this to 1/6th of the membership. I understand it is the facility they are hosting it at, but there SHOULD be some sort of balloting process, so if someone can't come, they still have an opinion. They are still members, and entitled to their one share per year of membership.
