3-Gun Match at Pine Island

Postby J.Schmitt on Tue May 21, 2013 11:55 am

Avid 3 Gunners, Pine Island shooters will be hosting a 4 to 5 stage 3 gun match on Sunday June 2. Minnesota 3 Gun Group will assist them with this match. The match will begin at 1000 hours. The match fee is 20 dollars. We may run a 3 gun nation stage, so if you are a member and want to get this in the books bring an extra 3 dollars cash. The club has lunch avail, burgers or brats, chips and pop for a reasonable price, somewhere around 5 dollars.

This facility was newly redone and has rifle capability out to 200 yards, and new large multi purpose bays.

Here is there address, 51650 Highway 52 Boulevard, Pine Island, MN 55963. The range is 50 minutes south of 494 and Hwy 52 interchange.

As always, Arrive early and help with any set up. I want to get everyone registered early so we don't have the back ups like last match.

Still 5 stages planned, We are not doing a 3 Gun Nation stage. We will most likely not have access to the 200 yard bay due to mud mud and mud. Sign up between 0830 and 0930. Shooting begins promptly at 1000. 20 bucks, and they grill up burgers and or brats and stuff for lunch at around 5 dollars or so.

See you there

Just wanted to give a BIG thanks to the folks at the Pine Island club for hosting today's match and another BIG thanks to the guys at MN 3 Gun Group that organized the match today. The facilities there were great, the stages you guys set up were a ton of fun and I had a total blast. oh, and the weather was perfect. (except I got fried when the sun came out. )

Thanks to all the guys on Squad 3 for being so friendly too, made the match and now I cant wait for the next one.

What an awesome day!

Thanks to everyone at MN3GG and Pine Island for a throughly enjoyable match. I'm happy to say I accomplished my two main goals for my first 3-gun match:

1) Don't get DQ'd
2) Learn

Have to say that stage 1 was my favorite; Lots of creative methods for getting double plates/poppers in our squad, and I like the open "shoot it how you want" format.

Big thanks to all those from squad 2 as well, for answering all my stupid questions and offering advice I'd never really shot an AR before today and I feel like I half know what I'm supposed to do now.

I too want to thank all the guys from the Pine Island club for putting on the match today and all the MN. 3 gun guys also. The stages were a blast, lots of variety with targets ( really enjoyed the texas stars etc...) and I also made it through my first match successfully ( no DQ ). The guys in squad three were awesome to shoot with and hope we can all shoot together at the next one. Wanted to thank all the guys that helped out when we ended up with no R.O. also. Now I know why everyone loves 3 gun so much, never had so much fun shooting!!!!

I want to thank everyone who came out and shot our match. This was our first real 3-gun match at pine island. I was thrilled by both the turn-out and the support we got mn 3-gun group. This was my first shot at stage design... and I learned a ton in the process. All of the shooters were awesome guys. The help with tear down was spectacular. Thanks guys!

We had 62 shooters attend, a beautiful day, very good and challenging stages, it was a very good match. Thanks to Pine Island. The MN3GG looks forward to our next joint venture.

The scores are done and will be up on the MN3GG website shortly.

People may wonder why their placement changed from the "Combined Overall" to the division only scores. The reason for that is that the point value is calculated top shooter in each stage and then combined together for the final placement. When you seperate the "Combined Overall" into by divisions only, the point value earned in each stage changes as the top shooter in each stage and in each division changes, therefore the placement of each shooter changes also. This particularly happens when two shooters final placement are seperated by just a couple of percentage points.
