Apple Valley

Postby Ron Burgundy on Tue Aug 06, 2013 9:24 am

I'm moving to Apple Valley and in search of a club to join. I looked through the thread of local clubs but I'm wondering, where do other MNGTers go? Thoughts on best bang for the buck?

I have very little interest in rifle or trap. I would like somewhere laid back that allows holster work, setting up chrono, and steel targets. Any thoughts?

Should I sign up for Oakdale's waiting list or are there any other suggestions from members south of the river?

Dakota County Gun Club - south of Rosemount. I believe there is a waiting list. I dropped my membership since I never got there. its member run and a good outdoor facility. Deleong on this forum was and may still be a member there. Burnsville Pistol Range has good package deals.

I'm a member at DCGC. Its worth it. Great club and great facilities. You can do holster work as well as the steel targets. Any other questions, feel free to PM me :)

Goalimn - any insight on how to get one's name on the DCGC wait list? I've been trying now for a couple of years and it seems that it's always closed. The website now says check back in 2014 (sigh). Open to suggestions and am in the same desire camp as the OP on the thread.

I know we are adding more members next year.. It took me acouple of years to get on because of how short the signup time is. no hints other than to keep watching the website..

Faribault Rifle & Pistol Club is not too far from Apply Valley.

IDPA & IPSC but they are almost done for the Summer. 5 handgun bays.
Because I care, I carry.

I only live about 3 miles from DCGC, but getting tired of playing cat and mouse trying to join. I shot IPSC at Pine Island July 31st, and am considering joining there. It is a nice facility with a brand new clubhouse 9 pistol ranges and 2 rifle ranges(100 and 200) i think. They also have lights so will be running ipsc league a while longer than the rest.

I wanted to revive this old thread as I live in apple valley and want to join an outdoor club for pistol work. Dakota county gun club looks near impossible to get in so I am looking for the best place to go within 45 minutes of home.

within 45 minutes of home.

Faribault will be a bit longer than that. Still, it's a fabulous club.

This looks like a great option. You need a couple of sponsors. Any folks on this forum members that would help out my wife and I?

Faribault is awesome, it is 50 minutes from my house in Burnsville, driveway to range, great place to shoot - if you need a sponsor let me know - Brad - Plus you can do up to 600 yards rifle which is hard to find around the cities -

Pine Island has a great new range. I live in Rosemount and it takes about a hour.

I'm also a member. Can sponsor - as long as you're really cool and not better looking than me. Plus - seriously - you have to be an NRA member. I think the club gets some kind of insurance deal for this requirement.
