SCAPSA/MN3GG 3-Gun Match - August 24, 2013

Postby -=VILLY=- on Thu Aug 08, 2013 9:24 pm

We will be having 4-5 stages and may include a 3-Gun Nation classifier stage. We have no round count yet, but plan on bringing about 100 rounds for each gun plus 10 slugs just to be safe. Largest birdshot we allow is 7.5 shot. NO STEEL CORE AMMO ALLOWED. If it sticks to a magnet, please do not bring it. We will be checking ammo on all shooters especially on stages where we're using rifle on steel targets.

Set-up will begin at 8:00 AM. The more help, the better and faster we can get going. Registration starts at 9:00 AM. Shooters' Meeting starts at 9:30 AM. Shooting begins at 10:00 AM. SCAPSA's match fee is $20-$25. If we have a classifier stage, anyone who wants to have their classifier stage scores submitted to 3-Gun Nation will need to pay an additional $3 fee that 3-Gun Nation charges. Please try to bring exact change.

For the match rules, look to our website at http://www.mn3gungroup.org.

I just read the updated rules on the mn3gun website. Is 44magnum still OK for heavy metal? I kind of remember the previous version mentioned this.

I'll be there....

And Dutch, If .44mag don't qualify for HM I'll eat my hat. That would be crazy. It don't get much more heavy metal than that.......unless you were to shoot the .50

I'm honestly having a hard time making a decision on this .44mag question.

On one hand, if someone really wants to shoot a .44mag handgun in Heavy Metal, I actually think that the entertainment value alone would be well worth allowing it.

On the other hand, I really really really want to see Chris eat his hat.

If Jomar were a real man, He'd set the bar for true heavy metal using a .500 S&W wheelie  Here's my recommendation to truly be the boss in HM http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_764971_-1_757771_757767_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

You failed to use the PM method to achieve both things at the same time. PM Dutch that a 44 mag should be tried; and PM Chris that its not allowed so he has to eat his hat. Then you also get to see the look of shock on Chris's face after his hat eating (which of course must be done before the match starts for all to see) when Dutch pulls out the 44 for the first stage.

Wow. That is just some cruel idea right there, but I like it.

Before I can be that real man, I first have to be a real rich man to be able to afford that cannon and enough bullets to shoot it through a match.

Speaking of evil, how about a "Spouses of the 3 gunners" stage. After the match, the wives/girlfriends/boyfriends/husbands shoot a stage. Each significant other that shoots the one stage gives a one time donation for shooting the stage to SCAPSA or MN3GG or some other cause?

Well, shooting the 50 is an option and I'm sure it doubles the entertainment value, but I happen to be obsessed with retrieving every single empty and I'm sure it's destructive effects would be frowned upon. That said, the 2 times I shot my 44 in 3gun, I was pleasantly surprised by the squad members picking up my empties. I don't have a 45...

Heck, it is a good question.

One time I asked of my Ithaca Mag 10, a DE 50 AE and a Barrett 50 would qualify for HM.

I was told no.

Apparently, the semi auto part of the business outweighed the 2.5 oz of lead per round capacity of the 10 ga.

Then Bob Mills said he'd kick my rump then DQ me if I shot SCAPSA's steel with a Barrett.

Oh well. It was worth a laugh.

Dutch, you are cleared to use a .44. The rules had said that at one time and are bases on the IMGA rules which state, 2.
.
44
caliber
or
larger
for
all
revolvers
and
semi
-
automatic
pistols

We will modify the rules, Thanks for pointing this out. Bring it along and play, Maybe some day I'll bring my LAR Griz in .45 win mag.

Thanks! I am hoping to be there. And just so you all know I am seriously trying to compete the best I can, I have replaced my tactical nylon fannypack shell carrier with 3 of them clip-on-your-belt thingies. Some day I won't end dead-last (or get DQ-Ed).

Plan on bringing your thinking cap along. We're bringing back a version of a stage that will test your wits (or atleast your strategy and counting abilities).
