Gopher Campfire in winter

Postby Countryfried Frank on Fri Nov 08, 2013 12:32 pm

Does Gopher Campfire close for the winter or keep different hours? Thanks in advance for the guidance.

They are open all year. I don't think they have hours, maybe for shooting but you have 24hr acces. It gets plowed in the main areas only

Last I read the hours were from 8am to sundown. They had an issue with guys shooting using the car headlights and had to put a stop to that.

If I remember correctly, in the short winter days, as long as it is officially daylight, you can shoot.

Another on daylight hours. Closes at sunrise according to the signs. Shot right up to sundown yesterday.

Thanks much all. My daughter and I had a great time putting holes in zombie splatter targets on Saturday. She's just about ready to take the red dot off and learn to use irons.

I do weekdays so rarely anyone there. The membership is calendar year so you might want to wait a bit.

I like it but use Rainbow much more, it is only about 15+/- minutes north of Gopher and has a 300 yards range. I like the pistol pits at Gopher better though, they have two individual pits. I have only had to share once as far as I remember. On the weekends there will probably be 2-3 other cars, but split between the 2 pistol pits, the 50 yard and the 100 yard ranges. I have never had a problem. Gopher has nice ranges, covered benches, nice solid bench tops and cardboard to hang the targets on(in the small shed by the 100yd benches).

You can shoot steel targets at both ranges, but you need to bring your own. Or show up on a day that I am at the range... Just don't shoot up the target hangers like the other members, not cool!

Oh that is good to hear, I have been wanting to get some steel soon. Are there any range officers or anything like that at either of these?
