MN 3 Gun Class Question - Pistol

Postby Xscream on Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:33 am

Would a mag well, or a replacement trigger (example, Apex FSS - link https://apextactical.com/store/product- ... pid54.html) put you out of Tac Limited? From the book:

6.7.1 - Internal modifications are allowed providing they do not alter the original factory configuration of the pistol.

Both of the upgrades are external, which the book doesn't address. One way to read the rule is that no external modifications are allowed in Tac Limited, but I've seen them in the division before.

You will be fine for Tac-Limited and Tac-Optics as long as there's no optic on it.

Is that interpretation consistent to WI or say Blue Ridge?

I've not been to a match in any state where where a magwell and trigger job would bump you to open class. Even though I've never shot one of the Holman matches I know their MD well enough to say you would be fine there as well.

The Apex kit actually replaces the trigger on the M&P, that was my concern - it's not just internal parts.

As shooter said you will be fine in tac-limited or tac-optics. 3 gun rules are quite a bit more lax than say USPSA. You can do basically anything to your pistol besides adding an optic or running mags longer than 140mm and it won't put you in open.

Also should add that a comp or ported barrel will get you bumped to open as well.

Sounds good - thanks. Just didn't want to spend money only to have match director tell me no.

Way i've always thought it worked was basically what ever you can do in USPSA Limited Division you're good to go in Tac Limited and Tac Optics.

Agree with the responses above.

If you have any trouble with them MN 3 Gun Group match directors about the issue, let me know. I'll set them straight. ;)
