Winter Practical Pistol at Burnsville Pistol Range

Postby SkyRock on Thu Aug 17, 2017 7:33 am

We will be starting the 23rd season of matches at BPR this September. Here's the schedule:

Orientation (with 1 short stage): 9/14/2017
Matches 1-13: 9/21/2017, 10/12, 10/26, 11/2, 11/16, 12/7, 12/21, 1/11/2018, 1/25 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22
Trophy Night (and "fun" match): 4/12/2018

Matches are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month except in November and December, where they are
held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month.

For those that don't know, we shoot "IPSC style" matches in two bays. We sometimes split one bay into two short stages. Since we aren't affiliated with any national organization, we use the USPSA's rules as a guide. (Their safety rules are adhered to, however.)

Signup starts at 6PM with shooting starting about 7 (earlier if setup is finished). We're usually finished between 9-9:30.

One of our reasons for running these matches without any affiliation is that we can be flexible in what's permitted. We use the same Major/Minor Power Factors that USPSA uses (see USPSA.org), but we also use Light and Low as well. If you've been curious about this sport, you don't have to purchase several hundred dollars of equipment to try it, only to find that it isn't for you.

Come to the Orientation (9/14), but please call ahead because faculities are limited to about 20 (I think) people in the classroom.

Hope to see you there.

What is the usual attendance like for these?

Been looking to get into this type of shooting.

Enjoyed my last visit at the Burnsville Pistol Range as well.

There's no way of telling except by counting the folks that call ahead. We've had so many they had to stand in the hallway (I think the room capacity is 20) and as few as two. If you come, it will be at least one! ;)
