You guy's don't know what's in your club's bylaws?

They change it and re-interoperate it regularly. They like to keep us guessing.

Sounds like a place I wouldn't want to belong to.

Is there another outdoor range as close to the Cities?

Are there any private clubs anywhere near being that close to the metro core?
OGC is only 3 miles outside the 694/ 494 loop.

Not part of the question.

Is there one where I could become a member, as close to the Cities?

It's not that bad. Most times I have the range to myself and the ranges are quite nice I think. The politics gets a bit … old. I might be a bit bitter due to a situation where the leadership asked for help and then got mad that members stepped up and helped. Or maybe I am just a Curmudgeon.

Not bad for guys like you and me, but definitely bad for exposing new shooters to the shooting sports.

As close? No.
As fancy? probably not.
A lot less political? definitely.

There are plenty of public ranges around for that. And if people want to participate in the shooting sports, they are welcome at all of the local private ranges for organized events.

OGC is pretty easy to get into. In fact, this year I think membership induction got shut down. I don't know how many people joined this year vs the the quota, but last year they did not fill out.
They only take on members once a year, and normally that process ends early in the year.
And H&H is right, for shooting out to 200m, it can be a great place. More times than not, during the weekday, I have a range all to myself. There have been days I had the whole club to myself.

Seems like they could have stayed open under the 'ammunition retailers' being deemed an essential service loophole.
