Apparently there is a hockey tourney and a couple of weddings in the area. The reasonable-rate places seem to be booked up. :(

If anyone wants to join me in hoping for a last-minute cancellation at an AmericInn of the Scotwood, let me know tonight.

So, this is Minnesota, right?

And we are Minnesotans?

What's the problem, then? Cold and snow?

Okay, I got a two-queen-bed room at the Annandale AmericInn, only 15 miles from the range, for Saturday night.

If anyone would rather sleep than drive 150 miles in the snow, let me know; I'm looking for someone to split the cost.

I'll watch the weather and may bring a cot just in case. I doubt it'll be that bad where I can't make the 50mi. drive home.

I'll have a couple of blankets and a pillow in my car, just in case, but I don't think I'll have an issue with driving home.

National Weather Service wrote:THE FIRST WINTER STORM OF THE SEASON REMAINS POISED TO AFFECT MUCH OF MINNESOTA AND WESTERN WISCONSIN THIS WEEKEND. A STRONG AREA OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING IN THE COLORADO ROCKIES WILL LIFT NORTH INTO NEBRASKA BY SATURDAY EVENING. A BROAD BAND OF SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP WELL AHEAD OF THE LOW ON SATURDAY SPREADING ACROSS MUCH OF MINNESOTA AND WESTERN WISCONSIN. THE LOW WILL CROSS IOWA SATURDAY NIGHT REACHING WISCONSIN SUNDAY MORNING. ENOUGH WARM AIR IS EXPECTED TO BE PULLED NORTH AHEAD OF THE LOW TO BRING A PERIOD OF SLEET OR EVEN FREEZING RAIN INTO SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND INTO WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN...ESPECIALLY SATURDAY EVENING. SLEET COULD REACH AS FAR NORTH AS THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA AND CHIPPEWA FALLS...WISCONSIN. THIS STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL OF PRODUCING SNOW TOTALS IN EXCESS OF SIX INCHES ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND WESTERN WISCONSIN. OF COURSE...ANY AREAS WHICH EXPERIENCE SIGNIFICANT FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET WILL SEE DIMINISHED SNOW TOTALS. GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL ALSO DEVELOP LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY WHICH COULD CAUSE REDUCED VISIBILITY IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO DETERIORATE RAPIDLY ON SATURDAY AS BANDS OF HEAVY SNOW MOVE ACROSS SOUTHERN INTO CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS INTO THE WEEKEND.

I have no idea what she's saying, but she's still giving me a warm tingly feeling. Let's go to the range!

Due to just having been handed my ski instruction schedule, I have to bow out of this class. I was truly looking forward to it.

So...I'm counting on you...to count for me!

I'm counting on you all to give each other as hard a time, about anything at all, as I would. To make Cokato II the peak Cokato event, outshining not just Cokato I but any event in the future. To add the final word to ttousi's sigline...I'm counting on you :)

Wish I could be there. Have fun and learn lots. And take pictures...they're useful for blackmail later

Cheers,
China

I hate to do this at this late hour, but I'm going to have to bow out. The prospect of the weather, both for driving and training, holds nothing but dread for me.

I look forward to rescheduling in the spring (or maybe indoors this winter); I can probably get together a class of 10-15 MADFI instructors alone.
