Time to Renew That MN Permit ? We now have a $100 class

Postby IDPA Shooter on Fri Feb 15, 2008 9:00 am

We now offer a new 4 + hour carry class for renewing permit holders and highly experienced shooters. We have removed the basic sections covering this is a revolver, this is a semi automatic, ball ammo vs hollowpoint and focus on reinforcing the knowledge, skills and attitudes someone familiar with carrying a handgun for self defense needs to know about their handgun and the law.

If someone got their permit training in 3 hours and and\or has been shooting twice in past 5 years, this is the wrong class for them. While we will accept experienced shooters in this class ( we have a retired Lt Col late of the USMC in our class in our 2/24 class and an Texas permit holder just out of the army) we want renewing permit holders to be comfortable and competent with their carry handgun. We therefore use Massad Ayoob LFI 60 shot Qualifier at single speed as our shooting exercise for this class.

All the details on our Sunday Feb 24 5:00pm to 9:00pm renewal class held at http://inrangellc.com/ are in the link below. Expect reviews of and class discussion and demos on the shooting fundamentals, the law, carry equipment, defensive shooting and a full hour of range work with up to 200 rounds going downrange. 4 seats are left in this class.

We are frequently told that we are really serious about what we teach and the class is "kind of intense." That is true, like many of the instructors on the board, this is a mission for us. We are serious about what we teach and really want folks to understand what carrying involves and then to practice the skills we have taught. We continue to receive high evals and referrals, so we think we are on the right track.

We still offer our regular 8 plus hour course for permit to carry with the next class on March 15. In our most recent class, we found out that several students did not truly have as much handgun experience as they initially represented. We scheduled a 2 hour class and range session for them at no charge the Saturday before the Sunday the are scheduled for the shooting exercise to to assist them in developing the proper skills.
