Any interest in a GSW management first aid course?

Postby chinakay on Thu Feb 16, 2012 8:59 pm

The last one we had, about 2 years ago, was a huge success with a good turnout.

If there's enough interest the instructor is willing to do another one. He is a paramedic with about 30 years experience in the field and also as an instructor. He's a good teacher and makes everything interesting.

He even started out by telling us about the rules of firearms safety...we told him he was preaching to the choir :D

No info yet on when or where, or cost. But the last one was I think $25. Worth every penny IMO.

Get back to me if you'd be interested, and I'll talk to him about dates.

I should add that while emphasis will be on GSW management, the first course also covered general first aid and CPR.

Would this cover the components of a "standard" individual first aid kit? Israeli Battle Dressings, hemostatic agents, tourniquet...

I could ask if he'd cover those topics. Last one he did, he talked about whatever we wanted to know.

This wouldn't be a standard, cookie-cutter, commercial class.

If he's talking about Gun Shot Wound Management, I'm interested.

Good start :)

One more thing to add (for now)....it would be somewhere in the southwest corner of the cities. Victoria, Chaska, somewhere like that. Since the new 212 went in it's a pretty accessible location.

Is this for a certification or just a class? I have got to re-take my First responder course because I let it lapse :angryvillagers:

It's not official, so no cert. It's just out of interest as we are a firearms community and spend time on ranges where the skill might come in handy.

It's just for personal improvement....what to do immediately before the ambulance arrives.

I'm interested in taking the course. Thanks for heading this up China.
