Thanks China for organizing this course. Thanks to Dave Olson for presenting - very well organized and supported with visual aids/samples. Here is what was presented based on my notes:

Legal Issues
Good Samaritan law
Render Aid law
consent
911 system/enhanced
ambulance
Safety
priorities
physical
biological
injuries
treatment
mechanics

Bullet Wounds
Pistols
Shotguns
Rifles
treatment
mechanics
contact wounds

Edged Weapons
knives
arrows
safety
control A. B. C.

Falls
safety
height
landing
time? access? extrication?
Eye Injuries
blunt trauma
penetrating
impaled object
avulsion
Burns
1st degree
2nd degree
3rd degree
Nose Bleed
blunt trauma
Exposure
cold
water
heat
bugs
Cardiac
heart attack
signs & symptoms
treatment

Stroke
stroke
blockage
aneurysm
Diabetes
Seizure
Asthma
Allergic Reaction
Anaphylactic Shock
Hyperventilation

There was a lot of information! The course lasted three and a half hours. We definitely got our money's worth. Dave also discussed what should go into a first aid kit, and how to use dressings/bandages/tourniquets.

Dave passed around samples of various things like epi pens, nitroglycerine tablets, and stents. Then he had a volunteer (KC8SON) demonstrate using an epi pen. When discharged horizontally through cardboard it shot quite a ways. China paced it off at over 20 feet!

Good topic, especially the gunshot coverage, knowledgable presenter and lots of information - highly recommended. :D

Here's another big "THANK-YOU" to ChinaKay and Dave for putting this together :D

The class and information were excellent and so much more information than I expected :D

Dave did a great job presenting everything and really kept things moving along. I couldn't believe how fast the evening went!

It really got me playing the "what if" game again and on another level!

:thankyou:

Thanks China, thanks Dave!

Regarding the slide show, I just want to say to everybody out there, holy crap be careful with your shotgun!!

And also, one nice thing about handguns versus rifles is that, if you manage to blow one up it's generally not right next to your face.

Glad to hear everyone seems to have gotten something of value out of the evening. DanM more than most, evidently :D :D :D

At the class, Dave had talked about putting together a list of supplies for an in the car style first-aid kit.

Was there any follow up on this?
